I spent two and a half days editing and perfecting a video that I was really proud of, only for me to find out it was blocked worldwide, I had announced that a video would be going out to my Instagram and people were fully expecting a video, only for YouTube's bullshit copyright system to ruin everything. Two and a half days I cant get back. Surely I'm not the only one who wishes copyright didn't exist.

I get copyright claims for recording of me playing the drums. I recorded, filmed, mixed, mastered and edited the video, there's no music in it - just me playing the drums. How on earth is it possible for someone to just claim my video and for something that doesn't even remotely sound like the content they claim I infringed? This should be illegal and creators should be given more powers when it comes to defending their own content. The process seems to be automated since the claim arrives seconds after the video is uploaded. Frankly this is very very unfair, not sure how it's allowed to go on.

A musician friend of mine with a channel got a copyright claim from using his OWN music! He somehow figured that since he'd composed, played and recorded this himself, he would have been exempt, but apparently not!?

There are SEVERAL problems with this.
1) Companies are claiming EVERYTHING. Without even owning the content.
2) Youtube AUTOMATICALLY leaves the "decision" of if the claim is real or false up to the person claiming the copyright. NO VERIFICATION AT ALL!!

In my case, i have someone named "The Orchard Music" trying to claim copyright on a song, released with ZERO copyright, as free-to-use. The song in question's IP belongs to "Chillyourmind" a solo artist, who produces TONS of copyright free music.

I disputed to claim, knowing this, added these details to the claim, youtube simply forwarded it to the claimant, who in turn immediately rejected it, and now they want my name, address, and email address if i want to appeal the rejection.

This is a STRONG handed tactic for spammers to get information about people, and is by all rights holding videos hostage in an effort to extort information.

It's absolutely crazy. I've got a 3hr video. The song is a couple minutes long and yet they would get any income made on it.
