The problem is that (in my experience) if a video has material that is falsely claimed under the content-ID system the algorithm discriminates against it so it will never perform well. Even once the claim is relelased, the video will never get the normal number of views so it can be a huge amount of wasted work when you're a full-time YouTuber. What's even worse is that sometimes, in the case of bogus claims, the claimant doesn't actually release the video but simply fails to respond and that means it takes the full 30 days before the claim to be removed -- meaning that whatever revenue that vid might have earned won't be paid out for an extra month. I license *all* the music I use in my videos but I'm still regularly penalized by YT's flawed content-ID system or by bogus claims. Why can't creators with a proven track-record of not abusing copyright be given a little more weight than some no-name who's chancing their luck by filing a bogus copyright claim in the hope it won't be disputed?

I would very much appreciate seeing a video going down the path of Dispute. Knowing the process form a creator as yourself would give us much more confidence that we are doing things right. Possibly include in that video the branches of situations that could occur? That would be INCREDIBLY VALUABLE just as this video was. The topic of helping us creators dig ourselves out of the hole is talked about, but no one goes into the details or the process.

I've had a number of copyright claims from music companies on a number of my beginner guitar tutorials. They claim that I've used a melody from some such song. I know I haven't. So I check the part that they're claiming and as usual it's part of a chord progression, there is no meleody or tune to speak of. So I end up writing why they can't claim it. And usually what happens is the owners have 30 days to dispute my claim but the never do. Then I get an email saying there is no copyright claim any more. In fact, my latest upload has a copyright claim and as of today they have 18 days left to respond to my claim. I've had a few claims like that recently and won them. I have other tutorials with a copyright claim that I don't dispute because I am teaching a song and that's fair enough.

Can I still upload that video even if it’s copyrighted because I don’t even want the money…? I really need to know, I’m losing hope on my channel

I can’t trim my copyrighted video out because the entire video is the song. And I can’t just mute it because I remixed the song so people could listen to it. And I don’t wanna replace it either because of the same reason for the second sentence. And I know that the Disput option won’t work because YouTube has always been very strict. So I don’t know what to do.

I did not realize you could trim out a segment or even mute any portions of the original video .
I forgot to add...
I thought you could either dispute the claim or delete the video

Thanks a million Nolan! I will pass along this Super Helpful video. Btw... Sean sent me here☺️

Thanks Nolan, hugely helpful. I've had a couple of videos affected and I had no idea where to easily sort it out. Thanks for this

I had something from YouTube audio library that was fine for several years and I used it in my livestreams and all the sudden everything with that song started getting claims. It’s been so annoying.

04:34 it is possible to undo this after saving, there is an option to revert to the original version and you can get the trimmed section back.

Are you gonna show one with the Dispute path? Just so we have a guideline of what to say and how to proceed?

Where do i start? i´ll try to keep it brief!! i copy+pasted a video from youtube recently, and edited it to be uploaded as a youtube short! i thought no Problem. About 1 hour later, i was told it has copyright material in it. So i clicked on the details, to be told that between 0.35-0.51 has copyright material, so i naturally thought that if i edit out this chunk then the video will be copyright free!!! Then this morning again another copyright issue, this time they said between 9secs -35 secs it was copyrighted, so again i edited that chunk out, and thought that will be the end of that!!! then today, i have been told that my video has been totally removed!!!!??? i am stunned!!! Does this mean that videos with copyright material cant be edited??

I continually get an ineligible on all videos. It's the intro song I use and I have the licence to use it. But despite my disputing the claim everytime and always winning, I continually get hit.
Frankly it's a ball ache
Is there anything I can do to stop the claims? I contacted YouTube but got an automated reply about copyright which was zero help. Any suggestions would be great thanks
