I been thru that process with a female friend. It took me 2 yrs to get her evicted. I filed 3 times but the courts kept ruling in her favor. Dekalb county Atlanta. If she didn't voluntarily leave I would have had to file again. The courts wanted her there I guess to avoid a homeless person but I was stuck with a 20k bill and she went on scott free. Never will I rent or let anyone in any of my properties.

Call me discriminatory, but one of my main requirements to rent to someone is that they have money to pay for it. It’s not a charity, its not a handout, I have zero sympathy for the people that think it’s ok to not pay their landlord and to live for free. I never got a free pass or any help. I hope it ruins their credit, and their ability to rent in the future. We are all responsible for our choices, even the bad ones.

A signed contract should mean something—even if it requires mediation or negotiation once that contract is made in order alter it. We’re creating generations of entitled individuals who have little respect for their own responsibilities—socially, financially, and morally.

When too many homes are vacant, It will be impossible to artificially keep home prices high. People will have bad credit, no one will qualify to buy. Owners will have to pay to maintain the home and also pay property taxes. It will become a buyers market like the office buildings are right now. They're 30% vacant right now. Residential real estate is next on the chopping block..

Stop paying property tax and see if you get a break.

Do we have an eviction crisis or do we have laziness, entitlement, and lack of personal accountability crises?

I think the government should not intervene the real market. This problem is harder to resolve. It’s not about tenants or landlords but all about the government’s wrong doing.

I am a property owner in L.A.. California new laws have been against property providers. They have taken away about 80% of our property rights and gave tenants most of them. A lot of people that received rental assistance did not pay rent. A lot of owners have filed bankruptcy, lost, or sold their property, and have left California. There are so many laws that have changed, it's too much to mention.

We paid on time everytime during lockdown and got a thank you letter with a 8% rent increase... i guess the nice guys looses again. Yes we want to buy a home but the over inflated prices plus ridiculous rates makes it almost impossible. We did the right thing and now we are being beat in the head and body at the same time.

Cut the help. It will lower rent costs because less landlords won’t be able to charge as much

You've got landlords owed $50K per unit...people haven't paid a penny in 3 years.

These guys who stopped paying rent, had a chance to save their money. They also got unemployment and stimulus payments, and they didn’t pay their rent. They had a huge opportunity to go buy a house, or save to buy a place to live, so I am not feeling bad for people who are evicted.

Squatters should eat dirt. No one should live rent free. They’re a big reason why landlords feel they need to jack up the rates.

Why would you side with people not paying rent? I am not talking about the squatters. Landlords take all the risk and you want people who are late on their rent to have more protection? Sounds like you brought some California with you to Texas.

You’re losing me. There is no justification for siding with people living somewhere without paying rent.

As a previous landlord, renters are a pain in the ass. When the pandemic hit, I sold everything cuz I could see this shitstorm coming! Govt always screws everything up!

It's not gouging if you own the property, you should be allowed to do what you want with it. This is ridiculous that people get to decide. What the f*** to do with your property? Stop saying gouging you don't like it leave
