The best way to avoid the downsides of scarcity mindset is to make sure you have adequate buffer/reserves to help you cope during scarce times. Have a rainy day fund just in case something bad happens. If you know there are tough times ahead (e.g. important deadline, tight budget), take care of everything else now so you can focus on resolving the scarcity when the time comes.
