Just came back to comment for all those poor souls that can't fix it. I tried everything from this video, the bt connection didn't restore. What DID work was restoring my pc system to a previous point. (bc my main issue was I removed the device and figured I will re connect it again, but it never found the controller in ANY way via Bluetooth)
So this worked for me

Don't preach to me whether or not I "need" wireless connectivity, I'm here to get it WORKING, not to hear your sermon.

Thanks for the batteries advice! I was using rechargable batteries and my laptop never could find my controller

Many thanks. This video helps a lot! No more random disconnects when shaking the controller.

If you're newer xbox wireless controller is not connecting via USB cable and just sits there blinking when turned on, try switching USB-C cables. Fixed my issue above by literally switching from one USB cable to the other. My first USB cable didn't go in enough but allowed me to power my controller, but after finding a different one it fit perfect and turned on immediately. Hope this helps. Also fixed the xbox controller audio as well.*

My controller connects using but bluetooth but literally won't work. It connects, but doesn't do anything or even function. I can't even select anything or get games to use the controller option even when it's connected. I don't know what to do.

I used the series s/x controller when i got it...but after few months it stopped connecting to my pc and can't find it but I've tried on my laptop and it's connected

The Bluetooth adapter in the PC plays a part too. I used 3 different Bluetooth adapters. Out of the 3, the only one that works is the "CSR" Bluetooth adapter. All the other adapters wanted a password for the controller which is weird.

I have an update to date Windows 10 PC with all the latest drivers including Xbox live all installed.

I have purchased the brand new XBOX series X controller and the Xbox wireless adapter that you spoke of in your video.

I have confirmed that the plug in play drivers for all three are installed correctly and working.

I have connected my controller to my phone to test if it's working fine and it is.

I have tested the controller on my Xbox Series X for over 100 hours of play time.

I have plugged in my controller to the PC and played many different games perfectly.

THE ISSUE BEGINS the moment I want to use the controller wireless on my PC. The lights just flash and I do the connection process and yet nothing. Your video is the 11 or so I have watched and nothing seems to be a correct fix.

The reason I'm trying to go wireless is so that way I am surrounded by less chords less tangles and I literally have the Bluetooth controller sitting on top of my laptop when I'm trying to connect it is right there right next to it so it should connect but it doesn't I appreciate your video you are very wise man and I hope that you continue to be thank you for your help

My Xbox controller was working on PC then all of a sudden when I went to turn my PC on the next day. The controller wouldn’t turn on and it won’t connect through bluetooth even after trying multiple controllers. I do use keyboard and mouse in some games but there are certain games where I like to use controller. Anyone know a fix to this problem and I do have the latest drivers installed.

updated the firmware on my controller, and on steam. i calibrated it on windows and it’s still not working. i think it’s a problem with my actual computer. i have an alienware 17 and a elite2 controller that works fine on my xbox but constantly disconnects from my pc. the charge port is wonky, but the bluetooth works fine on everything except my pc. i may try the xbox bluetooth adapter. i’ve tried everything else.

This helped me for rechargeable batteries-> Remove the batteries from the controller and re insert them, click on the xbox button till it starts blinking (it blinks at two speeds, pressing this button makes it blink slowly) now go to the Bluetooth settings and connect to the device. You'd notice it says connecting but it isn't. Now press the tiny circle present at the head of the console (near the Right shoulder and left shoulder buttons) whilst the connecting message still displays, pressing this makes the xbox sign blink twice as fast as it did when you pressed it. The connection should now be established. I've wondered how I got it working the first time I got this controller a year ago.

I update the controller on the PC via the Xbox accessories app. I had to connect the controller via USB and forgot to remove the batteries. I'm not 100% sure that's what I did wrong but after the update the controller would not power on wirelessly for more than a second. My guess is that the batteries got damaged or stopped working. Changed the batteries and I'm back to working bluetooth controller. Hopefully after this firmware update, it will stop disconnecting.

I have the newer white controller and it turns on for a few seconds when i have it directly plugged into my pc, but then it shuts off. I have no idea why. Ive even tried it with the battery pack. It still doesn't work. I have an Elite controller that I got over a year ago that still works though. I also have a MOGA controller that i never used that came with a tablet i bought a few years ago.

if you're using usb and your controller vibrates but doesn't light up, try a different cord or different port on your pc. just fixed my problem, the usb wasn't going far enough into the port on my pc so i found the best fitting port and it worked.

PC is a joke. Can't get a simple controller working and by looking at the comments many other can't either. It's hilarious people hype the pc gaming to be best option but not even the most basic thing work with these even in 2022.
