As a proud tractor trailer operator for about 20 years these ramps have saved lives!! We have them here in Pennsylvania. Be safe my fellow truckers out there!!

I remember me and my family driving out of town and a semi truck was in front of us. We were so oblivious to the fact. His truck was out of control but you would have never known. He went up the runaway truck ramp and I was in awe. it went for a few secs and came to a complete stop. He did good. It's amazing to see how those runaway ramps work.

there should be a worldwide Truck Driver recognition day. Without those guys the world would come to a halt.

Following this video puts CHILLS down my spine, as 35 plus years ago I was a heavy-duty tow truck driver pulling a KW and a 48 ft van over the "grapevine" i-5 in southern California, n/B to a repair shop in Bakersfield, I DIDN'T have my "brakebuddy" air brake remote tool, with me. I ran away down the "grapevine" hill at over 100 mph plus, it took All lanes to make it around the curves, it's hard to know just how far you can go "pushing your luck", until that day comes !!

the best advice ever from another trucker: pay attention to every sign you see, especially the yellow ones.

The truck I was watching at 2:30 in was ridiculous. There should have been a runaway truck ramp well in advance of the one this driver ended up using. I hope he's okay, because I wasn't able to tell. But this poor guy went for one hell of a ride that he didn't sign up for that morning. The only thing that kept anyone from being hit on the road that day was his skilled driving. That truck could have flipped out of control at any time, but the driver did an amazing job keeping it together.

For that man to control that truck at those speeds in that situation is the best driving I have ever seen, in that first 2+ minute clip. The control. Nothing but respect omg.

This is why you see truckers rolling so slowly downgrade, in case you were wondering.

The footage for the guy hauling paper rolls made my heart sink. He just save alot of lives without many of them realizing 😕😕

We have a lot of these RunAway lanes in the Rocky Mountains in Canada. Hopefully, they don't get used.

I can imagine how scary that is for the driver. I hydroplane and lose my cool. Kudos to people who keep their sh!t together during road craziness 👏🙌

This is the reason why I always had a 9/16 wrench with me. I would adjust my brakes before entering a mountainous area.

Scary situation to find yourself in. Do them break checks and adjustments at the top of the pass. Well worth the time and effort.

Whatever the one in the thumbnail is, that’s insanely high! Couldn’t imagine how that driver must have felt.
