Listen I’ve basically slammed my head through a lot of brick walls in games over the years but I don’t think I have the necessary will to do something like hardcore Calamity. Not that I haven’t tried before but keep in mind that was back before the mega balancing of everything and even with all that power I couldn’t do it. Providence was a brick wall that I couldn’t brute force my way through. After a streak of basically 600 characters I just had to stop. Maybe for
Christmas I’ll try again but until then it just ain’t happening.

For anyone trying to do this, be aware that it doesn't delete your character file. Just throws the character file into your recycling bin. So if your hardcore character dies, just fish it out of the desktop recycling bin and throw it back into the game files.

get into a post scal world with a hardcore character, get auric gear, obliterate DoG, rejoice, the j a r

While far from intended, there are two ways to get this easier (without other mods of course).

The first is mostly true to the idea, and it's make a hardcore character, and just give them endgame gear. You don't need to beat every boss, just DoG. Still requires some skill, due to the head doing a lot of damage, much faster and easier this way though.

The second even easier method is kill DoG on expert+, then put the Treasure Bag in a chest. Make a hardcore character, then open it.

I did it. I used a hardcore character and just treated it like hopping in lava in Minecraft by having backup loadouts and hopping on different hardcore characters every time I died.

I've obtained it. Legit fought DoG with a hardcore character.

Granted I created tons of characters and had the cheat mod to give myself the best weapons and armor.
