I feel like M1 Air is the best value laptop out there. Literally can do anything for ordinary people like me. Would fully recommend it for anyone for a day to day use

This is my first mac, I got it for $800 from costco. I am really impressed with the quality and performance! I think even if a new one comes out next year, this one is still way more powerful than what the majority of people need; so when the new one comes out and the price of this one starts to decrease in the second-hand market, it will be such a steal at second-hand prices! I don't think this machine will stop being worth getting even 3 years from now, regardless if there's newer models!

All I can suggest to anyone looking to get one is that if you are the type to open a bunch of stuff at once. Like 20 chrome tabs excel and a second monitor. Get the 16 gigs of ram. Other wise I love my base model air. Having a little more ram would make the amount of stuff I do easier.

I purchased this machine in back to school offer with free airpods. Adding this with 1 tb samsung SSD, this is a complete laptop which will support me for all 4 years.

Got my M1 Air base on 29th September, 2021.
2 things to share-
1. Took your advice & kept my battery levels between 30% to 70%.
Total cycle count in 76 days is 22 !!!
2. Just totally forgot about sitting in the sun and using it, it gets warm as a toaster. (Even in December sun in India)

Was waiting for the M2 air… but about a 5 weeks ago, I saw MaxTech’n «one year M1 air review»… ordered it the next day. No «BEST BUY prices» in my country, but still… got it, and luv it! Base model. Made a music video in 4K, no sweat… superb battery, great screen, great performance. Just got a 4K+ monitor for it… awesome!
Amd/intel who??? 🤣

I use laptop for work - all day, everyday. As used of 13 Intel MBP pro I was waiting for new generation of pro and as soon as this have been released I bought Air (with 16GB) - not all "professionals" need GPU power. I need snappy but light laptop with good battery live. I bet more people use their laptops professionally for Office and browser than for Da Vinci Resolve or Premiere pro. So this air is not for student only.

Whether you choose the M1 Air or Macbook Pro M1, if you are not into heavy tasks, both machines are great. Last year most people were in Aw but once the new ones came it seemed like everyone tried to trash the M1's for no apparent reason. Me coming from a 2012 Macbook Pro which I upgraded to a SSD and 16 GB of Ram, this M1 is still great to me. I am neither a professional photographer, video editor nor do I use the macbook for heavy tasks. Regular folks like myself who use this with an extended monitor to do multiple tasks at once, the M1 is great enough. For professionals apparently not.

I bought the base model Air few days ago knowing fully well new model might be coming in the next year. Few things which pushed me purchase right now is the design change of junky white keyboard and the possibility of notch on screen. My usage on laptop is mainly browsing and watching youtube for which this mac model is more than enough. For any heavy duty workload I have i9 desktop computer.

Bought a MacBook Air M1 in November and I'll suggest 'Just go for it!' and remember that it's still the flagship model of the MacBook Air line-up, at least for a year from now.

I currently have the base-model M1 MacBook Air in Space Grey. And I'm using it for studying, casual web browsing, watching videos, and also using it for my YouTube channel. And I got it back in April of 2021. The storage of my MacBook Air is almost full but it's far from enough according to my needs. My MacBook Air is a total upgrade from my old Lenovo laptop. And I'm not upgrading until the next few years.

16gb ram version is perfect for web development (especially frontened, my angular builds just fly). I can absolutely recommend this piece of tech. I think I'm more productive not hearing the fan noise. I switched from a hp notebook, the fans worked like a sinus curve, it was very annoying hearing this noise 8-10 hours a day..

when it comes to the body of the laptop I love the wedge design of the air

For data science, PowerPoints, web browsing, office work, coding, and so many other things, this MacBook has held up great for me. I have the base model and I haven't felt like it was lacking in any functionality. I am still a student in college and its handled everything like a dream. The one drawback is that I wish the screen was 15 inches, but that's my own personal grievance that has nothing to do with the computer's capabilities.

Yes!! Is the best mac for its price, just add 16ram (I did it).

Still worth it by far.

PhD Student here + coding + some editing.

Trust me. You will not regret it.

I just purchased the 14" M1 Pro MBP for myself (ports welcomed) but got my 18 year old daughter the 2020 M1 Air (8GB Ram/512 SSD)... What a fantastic machine for a student or just about any casual person needing a laptop to browse/manage finances/pay bills/work on documents (LibreOffice users here).

I’m a security engineer and coming from Windows.. 32GB RAM + Quad Core CPU.
The only thing I missed is, having the on-demand testing on virtual machines (I use VMware Workstations).
CentOS, Windows Server, Win 7, 8, 10 etc..
With 16 GB and limited to ONLY arm-based .iso, limits me to run multiple VMs.
My workaround is remote to my gaming PC 😂😂
Yeah I need multiple ports.. the solution for that is usb-c dongle.
I can switch back to Windows, but I really appreciate to be able to work in data center without worrying about battery life. Working in data center can be up to 12 hours, and yes.. my M1 MBA can last that long… bro
