is the 10% penalty only applied to the standard part premium e.g. 171.10? or it will be applied to the entire premium e.g 573.80 (if you make over 500K per year from age 65-68?

Question. What if I was covered by employers workers comp insurance during recovery period after surgery twice. Can that insurance be counted as employee based insurance. My job fired me because I could no longer work during recovery as a teacher and only had work comp insurance? Need answers. Thanks

My mom lived most of her life in the U.S. (U.S. citizen), but retired back to her home country when she was in her 50s. Since she has full health insurance in Vietnam, she never enrolled in Medicare/Medicaid. Now in her 80s, and would like to visit more often, but is afraid of not having health-insurance while she is here.

I understand the first step would be to sign up for Medicare A+B, but is there a calculator and/or the circumstances she should file a 'reconsideration request'?

Also, is medicaid an option? I understand that is for low-income, which she probably falls under, but would my income be used to determine her eligibility?

Does it have to be a full 12 months or any portion of the year like say, 10 months to be hit with the penalty
?

Question for you. I plan to move to South America in 2024. I currently have Medicare A & B as well as an Advantage Plan. I will be required to have health insurance in the country I plan to move to. I want to discontinue Medicare Part B as well as the Advantage Plan since they will be of no use to me. I plan to live in South America for the rest of my life. HOWEVER...in the off chance that I should have to return to the USA, can I re-start Part B and will there be that penalty you talked about? As an example, if I returned to the USA after being away for 5 years, would I have to pay a 50% penalty to re-start Medicare Part B? Are there any supplemental plans that I could use in combination with Part A? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Thanks for the info. I will be 66 in August and am still working and plan on retiring at 67 and was a bit concerned about this.

Thank you for your informative presentation. I just have a question. After I have been on part B for several years, am I able to cancel plan B and just have part A?
