Dan Akroyd loved the film and said it was pretty spot on 🤷🏻‍♂️

Reading an article from the writers, most of that stuff actually did happen however, it was in the months leading up to the first show and not all in an hour and a half before.

Chevy has proven to be an unreliable narrator at times 😅😂

I would rather hear from Jane Curtin. I’d even take fourth-hand accounts of what Gilda Radner had to say before believing anything coming from Chevy Chase.

yeah, cause Chevy Chase is a guy who says true things... lmao

Yeah, ask the guy who was banned from the show for hitting Cheri Oteri. I'm sure he'll be honest.

I don't think the movie ever says they didn't go over the show a few times. You have to assume the chaos in the movie was heightened for drama, that's just how movies work

Chevy Chase is a raging narcissist and is probably not your best source for historical info

Would anyone go to theaters to watch a movie about everything running perfectly smooth that day ??? 🤔

Reading the SNL book, I believe Chase when he disputes they "didn't know what the show was supposed to be". They def had a plan.

When I saw the first show at the age of 16, I thought, "Monty Python... but American!" The opening skit features an immigrant learning English, being given bizarre things to say, which is like the "my hovercraft is full of eels" skit featuring John Cleese as the immigrant.

People forget they did have experience performing a show, live on stage and on the radio. Most of them also had experience working with each other from the Lemmings thing. It may have been frustrating and confusing when it came to tv land but to Chevy and the main guys like Gilda and Belushi etc they were used to each other

I wouldn't believe anything Chevy says. Egomaniac

The movie was a biopic which means some "real events" with liberties taken with telling the story. The scene with Chase and Berle didnt happen but was written to illustrate that the story was about a new generation wrestling tv and comedy aware from the previous generation.

Love Belushi in the background shot. Loved the original cast. Looked forward to it at 11:30, after the nightly news. I was 15.

I don’t care if it was a perfect account of historical events or not. It was an amazing film! Far exceeded my expectations.

There’s your stamp of approval right there!
If he approved, something just wouldn’t be right..

Right?

Chevy Chase: "We were all prepared, at least I was."… somehow I knew he was gonna say that.
