I eat a mostly WFPB diet (I'm vegan, but I also eat for health). As a lifetime sufferer of anxiety and severe depression, I don't notice a difference. In fact, trying to eat the "perfect" diet has only stressed me out, made me feel deprived, and consequently *deepened* my already poor relationship with food. 😞 So I've decided to be a little more lax and eat whatever I want (vegan, of course, and within reason), because fruits and veg aren't the "only" cure for mood. So much more comes into play (your environment, for example)..and if you feel stuck and struggle to change your environment, there ain't enough apples in the world that will lift your mood. Just saying.

I agree about the fruit and veggies, but I for one derive great pleasure from dark chocolate.

I'm 19 YO male. I was deppresed person for years in my teenage life. Then i tried to change my life about 4 months ago. I eat healthy food, workout everyday and do job freelance that i only want (i don't do it if i don't like it, even if that job is good pay job). I eat strawberry, blueberry, half banana, small amount of red grape (i eat the seed too), gluten free rolled oat, cinnamon powder, lettuce, brocolli, 80% dark chocolate, good quality roasted almond, matcha tea, whey protein, sea salt, boiled purple sweet potato, chicken breast, small amount good quality rice, black pepper powder, free range chicken egg everyday. Now, my life is changing so much. I'm soo happy even thou i don't have soo much money, lived in rent apartment, don't have a car, don't have many friends, don't have girlfriend, my family don't even care about me. The one that i think make me happy is, my mind is clearer and my body is healthier. I can do things that i can't do before, i can reach that i can't reach before in my life. With my body and mind now i more confident to talk and approach someone. I gradually getting better now. And I believe if i eat good food (thanks to this channel because i learn information about good food from this channel) someday i will be a successful person.

Well we WFPB-ed eaters have more fiber in our diet and therefore poop more so that goes a long way toward the general well being. Most people especially the SAD eaters, discount their gross bodily functions but elimination is vital to feeling good. It's not just all the nutrients and antioxidants we consume, although that's vitally important also.

That's 3 or 4 cups of fruit or vegetables respectively per day, i get about half of that and it's lifted my mood since starting a few years back.

I'm not sure the conclusion is valid. They may just feel better because they think they ate healthy and did something for themselves, not due to the actual food. Same difference, though...

7-8 servings of fruits and vegetables! Wow! I come from Hong Kong, our government promotes a 2(fruits)+3(vegetable) formula. I think it is because of we promote meat but vegetables are of course better alternatives in the long run.
