I think it's totally acceptable to collectively agree that we're all feeling a little slumpy with our reading this year. LOL.
It's okay! We're still reading and who cares how many books we've gotten through so far in comparison to last year. That was last year. This is now.
And right now I'm loving the short novellas of The Murderbot Diaries. So good! And highly recommend if you need fun little reads to get you through a "slump"

Exactly my thoughts on Fourth Wing. I dnf’d 3/4 in and just watched a spoiler video 😅. Good thing I didn’t purchase it and just borrowed it from my library. I heard Amazon is making a live action series of it so I’ll just wait for the show to come out 😆

I am with you on Fourth Wing and Powerless (read both in 2024). I thought Fourth Wing was fine but for all the action, deaths etc, it provoked no emotion in me and I think that’s because the world building and relationships weren’t sufficiently developed. Powerless, I liked the dynamic of Paeydon & Kai but also found their interactions repetitive. And I thought the twist at the end made zero sense and was just done as a cliffhanger/to move the story on in book 2. I liked Divine Rivals more but even that fell short of my expectations after all the hype.

I was in a reading slump until I read When the Moon Hatched on kindle unlimited!! HIGHLY recommend you try it out (it's a little slow the first 20% but then gets good)

I thought the complete absurdity and over the top elements of Fourth Wing made it is a fun laugh out loud experience. I dont think it is meant to take that seriously and just be along for the ride.
