I felt the same way about a little life. I felt desensitised to the crazy stuff happening and didnt give a 💩 by the end. Theres a great vid called "euth anasia fanfiction" by owl criticism which goes deeper into it and it helped me put into words what i didnt like about it

The Secret History is my favorite book of this year (possibly ever) and I don't think any book can top it. It's changed me and how I view writing. I'm currently another book by Donna Tartt, just because I miss her writing

i liked the love hypotesis haha but i didn't take it seriously, it's a silly story and it made me cringe A LOT. MYORAR was one of my favourites books of the last year, it has something special and i think that not everybody realizes that the main character is insufferable on purpose, because that's the point

I agree with your take on A Little Life. It is well written but unrelentingly bleak and traumatic, and the final chapters are as you say"over the top".

I have read My Year Of Rest And Relaxation and it wasn't my favorite book but it was good. I DNF'ed The Cruel Prince book because I could just tell it wasn't for me
