7018 Vertical

Been practicing the hell out of vertical up with all kinds of rods 6013, 6011, stainless 309, 7018 and 8018. After a few weeks my welds finally look like this

Real welders ain’t doing weaves on angle .. use a plate test or a pipe test

Strongest weld out there vertical up. You look a little concave but still a pretty good weld

Now add an open root with a 1/8 land 6010 root, 7018 3/32 fill and cap

Real welders don’t try welding one piece of metal together. Try it on a real coupon with a 1/8” gap and a bevel

Good travel speed just have to watch out for that long arc. Remember with 7018 you can drag the plate as long as you're constantly moving. Keep up the good work man just keep laying those beads repetition is the key in building that muscle memory. That being said if you're stuck running the same shitty bead over and over step back take five have a smoke take a piss whatever and then come back and try a new angle or grip or post up differently don't let the bead control you you control the bead.

I just got back into welding 4 months ago. Its been 13 years since I was a Boilermaker Apprentice. I can run 3/32 and 1/8in 7018 vert and overhead like a champ but this new business is hitting me with 1/4in and 3/16.. Everytime I run a vert pass all my weld falls out and Im getting horrible undercut. Any suggestions fellas its much needed.😅

hari ini aku belajar pakai rot 7018 sangat susah untuk permula seperti aku...kalau masa jalan itu mudah starting tu agak susah sikit mahu control😔
