[HOWTO] DUAL WAN Feature on ASUSWRT [ASUS RT-AC68U Wireless Router]

In this video I set up the Dual-WAN feature on my #ASUS RT-AC68U Wireless Router [this feature is also available in some other models]. I'll use my Android phone to set up a secondary Internet connection. I can use the secondary connection for Backup or for Load Balancing purposes! I hope you enjoy this video. Great explanation with sufficient focus on the most commonly desired alternatives. I had been googling how to set this up using my rt-ac66u and was getting confusing if not misleading results. Your mentioning that a LAN port can be reconfigured as a secondary WAN port was the key piece I could not decipher elsewhere (which seemed to emphasize USB connections). Excellent video and clear explanations.

Years later and I still like how clear this video is. I'm going to get Verizon 5G and use this video to hook it up as my secondary WAN. Has the Asus AXE-16000 improved on this setup in any way?

Great video, clear explanations, thank you. A small question though - as the owners fo the RT-AC68U know, there are two USB ports (2.0 and 3.0). Q1. Should I always use the 3.0 port? Q2. Using the 3G/4G USB configuration cancels using the other USB as a standard USB port? Or can I use port #1 for a USB HD and the port#2 as secondary wan?

I'm going to use this to troubleshoot my wan port. Currently I lose internet connection on my AC66U-B1 from time to time, so I'll turn a LAN into the primary WAN and see if the problem continues after the change. Thanks again.

Great video! I bought the same RT-AC68U router and am unfortunately having an issue with it actually recognizing that there is a phone plugged in when trying to use the USB Tethering function. It does charge my phone, but keeps saying WAN is not connected. I've tried using both Verizon Samsung S8+ and Note 8 phones. I even set Dual WAN to Off, so it exclusively searches for a USB android phone... still no luck. The ASUS engineering team cannot seem to give me any reason as to why, other than saying it is an issue with Samsung phones. Just wanted to see if you knew of a work around to get it to communicate properly by chance? Thanks!
