Sus chords (short for suspended) get their name from their "suspended" feeling, which is created by replacing the third of the chord with another note like a second or fourth. Since they don't have a major or minor third, sus chords sound very ambiguous. In this video, Nicholas Veinoglou explains what a sus chord is, how to create one, and how to use the unique color and texture of suspended chords in your own playing.

My favorite sus chord is Csus2 at third fret with a G in the bass. It sounds huge with lots of distortion.
