To anyone else with a Netgear router, I had to add both a Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary IP Address for this to work. I just set all 3 to the Static IP of the Pi-Hole. Hope this helps someone else.

I finally got my Pi-hole set up the right way, before I switched ISPs and bought an Orbi I had to set each device manually, in my laptop's case even changing settings every time I left the house since the static IP wouldn't work anywhere else. Now it's set so every device is protected without doing anything else, thank you so much!

I have been using pi-hole and Ubiquiti-UniFi controller for my home network. Love this solution. I have another one that I use as a travel router and I added a second wireless interface configured as an access point. It works brilliantly in coffee shops. As well as the extra speed you are adding an extra layer of security.

I love pi hole, first because I don't see ads, second because without it I can't change dns because my isp doesn't allow me to change them.they deserve a donation, thanks guys!

when i try to login to the gateway router it keeps saying incorrect username, but it says on the login screen thats the username. is it really supposed to be the same login as if you were trying to access the wifi? wouldn't that mean that anyone visiting who asks for your wifi login info would be able to login and change the router settings as long as they knew the routers ip?

This is a good video tutorial, thank you. (This is the fourth video tutorial for pihole setup I've watched and I've read many written instructions too). My pihole doesn't work and I have re-set it up 3 times, including trying a full Raspbian install and a lite install. No ad blocking. I have my pi set up with static IP from my router (double-checked my dhcpcd.conf file). I have my local PC client DNS set to the pi IP. I have my router DNS set to the pi IP. The install went smoothly without any hangups, EXCEPT... every single install of pihole shows me only 1 third party list for ad blocking (6:47 in this video), and that is StevenBlack. I have done the install 3 times, using Google, OpenDNS, and cloudflare and all were the same. I'm not sure what else to check, but I'm open to suggestions.

Anyone know what "address reservation" would be called on a spectrum router?
I found static ip assignment within DHCP, would that be it?
