The ocean is very lucky that the Lionfish's most prevalent predator is humans.

Apparently, the fish tastes really good, similar to the quality of mahi mahi. I'd love to give it a try.

So about 40 million offspring. Can you imagine? She must be relieved when they go off to school.

i know dwarf lionfish are native to California. Had one in my tank. It was the only survivor after a power outage in January. Handled the cold water just fine while all my tropical and sub-tropical fish croaked.

Used to bring a spear for these specifically when we would snorkel around St. Thomas

They should pull a Deuce Bigalow and make Lionfish smoothies.

It's more likely they came with the ground water of cargo ships, rather than got released by Aquarium owners.

People bought these for the aquarium and immediately regretted it, so they released them in the ocean in which they didn't belong. So, here we are.

I’m Puerto Rican and from what I remember the government pays you for killing these fish. I can’t remember how much but they incentivize it because they’re an invasive species

There has been some successful efforts to teach Nurse Sharks to eat Lionfish in the Caribbean.

No, more like a casino with an open water system dumped millions of fry with every water change.

Irresponsible aquarium owners releasing these things are the root cause of this.

I thought their spread was getting as bad as it is because there one of the only fish that can survive if they get sucked into a cargo ships ballast hold?
