I was a landlord. I allowed pets for 26 years. Made everyone happier.

I find it hard to judge Rocky's family harshly. They took care of him, he is healthy. They loved him enough to leave him in a place where he would be safe and cared for. They left a note so his name would be known and his date of birth. Many people just open the doors and kick out their animals. In these hard times, my bet is they did not want to do it but had to make a horrible decision. Bless them for their journey and bless Rocky for the new life he is about to start!

I hate when people judge owners that have to turn in their pets and say I would rather you be homeless than give up your dog. Some people have children. Some people have health issues that they have to put above all else. I hate that dogs or cats have to be taken to shelters, but thank God that they exist because some people just turn their pets loose outside and expect them to survive on their own. We have to have compassion for both sides.

Owners didn’t come in because they are embarrassed and it hurts. I am happy they did the drop off. They could have just let him go. I feel bad for them. I took a homeless kids dog vetted him and told him when he gets a job n place I will turn him over. One yr later that kid was ready n couldn’t wait. He called every week while I had his love bug. The reunion was so emotional.

This one hit home, I had to turn my dogs in when I was 12 yrs old, my parents filed for bankruptcy and I tried all I could to keep my 1 year old border collie Champ 😭 Animal Control came to pick up two of our three dogs. We found a friend to take our third dog but Champ was my pup, I was and still today cry about having to give him up, I wrote a note to his new potential owners hoping they would love him as much as I did. That was 28 years ago and I still wonder about him, He was an amazing dog and it devastated me 😔 I'm hopeful Rocky will find a great home ❤

Rocky looks like a Doberman without cut ears or tail. He is just so precious. I hope he finds a family soon.

Losing a job and getting evicted is so traumatic I can see taking care of a dog is just too much. I can also see surrendering a dog in person is just too much. This owner must be devastated and not thinking straight.
But I don’t ever recall seeing such a resistant dog on here. Poor thing. So lucky you’re there to put in the effort.

He looks really sad and borderline giving up. Like he's defeated 😢. Poor guy didn't deserve this. No pets do. So handsome

This is our Olive's story too. Surrendered because her first family was evicted. Shut down, anxious, defeated. A year and a half later, and she's happy, energetic, and has more love to give than any creature I've ever known. Once she knew she was safe with us, she was ready to love us with everything she has.

He almost looks part Doberman. Such beautiful, expressive eyes. I hope he finds a loving home soon.

The fact that his owners couldn't afford to keep him, they did the right thing by turning him to an animal shelter to take care of until another home can be found for him . This is what a responsible owner does for their pets if they can't afford to keep their fur baby .

The owners did not push him out of a car in a strange area. They had compassion and want to give him a chance! You got this, Rocky🙏💙

My boyfriend and I adopted our dog 7 years ago. She was in a foster family before we adopted her. We are both disabled. And because of that we don't know if we will be able to take care of our dog if she gets health problems because of older age or if something happens to our own health. So we made an agreement with the foster family. That if we can't take care of her anymore that she will go back to them. We are staying in contact and she stays with them a couple of weeks a year for vacation. She loves it there. Having a back up plan gives us so much peace of mind.
Hopefully she can stay with us until the end. But only time will tell.
She is 8 now and had some health issues already but luckily we could manage.

This beautiful boy is either full Australian Kelpie or with a bit of mix but mainly kelpie, I’m an Australian on a cattle farm and we have 17 working Kelpies .. this broke my heart 💔Kelpies are breed to work, they are pack dogs and the most loyal dog you will ever find .. the eye contact is part of their genetics, they are always watching for instructions from their leader .. they are sensitive souls and their nature is be with humans and their pack for most of the day .. this little fella has a broken heart .. I can tell you that is a fact, his confused, scared and lonely, they are very intelligent and if taken from their pack or their human they become very depressed.. they are awesome family dogs and great with kids .. please someone take this beautiful boy and love him, he will give you double love and loyalty back, they love being part of the family 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️

It's heartbreaking that they had to give him up. He looks so sad. He was clearly well cared for and loved enough for them to leave a note. 💔

Somewhere is a heartbroken family who had no choice but relinquish their beloved dog. My heart goes out to them and to Rocky. It's a tough world these days. It probably wasn't a matter of just dumping him off of course, it was a broken heart and they couldn't handle dealing with people too. They wanted it to be quick and over. Such a heart crushing decision. Prayers for the family and for Rocky.

It's been 4 1/2 years since Dougie came home from the shelter. He was crazy friendly and loved to chase balls, but he was also extremely possessive and stubborn. It's just been a month since he let me pick up a paper plate he finished cleaning without trying to take my hand off. Earlier this year he finally gave his tail a full back and forth wag and responded to being told he's a good dog. Over the years he's learned to sit, wait, and his favorite - go!

Some dogs need a little time, and some need a lot of time. They all deserve a chance.

His grief and sadness is obvious, like someone who lost a cherished loved one. He literally tragically lost his entire family. It's my feeling that he is so very loyal to his owner/family, that it's going to take patience, time, kindness, positivity, to get him to let go of his attachment and open up to give his loyalty to a new owner/family. It CAN happen. And the new owner will be rewarded with a very strong attachment that will be worth the effort.
