Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack is what makes this 🎉

When Admiral Halsey screamed “YEAH!!!!” That was awesome

Jimmy Doolittle was such a good leader. Purposefully put himself at the controls of the first B-25 knowing it had the least space for takeoff, showing he was willing to take the same amount of risk as the rest of his pilots.

I sorta chuckled when baldwin said geezes that was short. You can see the character/real person that was portrayed doolittle even a tough man he was scared beyond anything.

Well done Michael Bay and Hans Zimmer! My favorite scene with hasty preparation for take off with broomsticks :D. Once the Mitchells get airborne and the music hits... damn! perfection. Zimmer puts this movie to another level. Amazing what Americans achieved in that moment, no one has ever done that. Sometimes I envy Americans their patriotism. :P

Legend has it, Alec Baldwin was so excited when the plane took of that he landed, shot one of the extras, then took off again

I don’t think the USA has been knocked down harder than it was during the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Doolittle Raid was the first step in getting back up, and the Battle of Midway completely turned the tide of the Pacific front. Thank you to all who served in those missions. You are heroes.

HISTORICAL CORRECTION: Unlike what we see in this scene, When the Dolittle raid was being planned, they knew the short aircraft carrier runway deck would be extremely difficult to take off from.
So, the pilots were told to lock their brakes, throttle up the engines to maximum power, then release the brakes.
This would maximize acceleration and minimize risk.
The Dolittle raid, our first major retaliation against Japan caused very little damage, but was an act of defiance, like a slap in the face to those who beat us to a pulp at Pearl Harbor.
When the news of the raid hit, Americans literally cheered and applauded. It was a moral booster the country needed.
One major factory that was hit was the Habishki company, which would later become Datsun, and renamed Nissan.
At the time, the company manufactured battle tanks.

Probably Michael Bay's finest work

I understand that this movie was historically inaccurate, but if you can just give it creative liberties, it’s a really really fun movie.

Even before we were an official branch, we were always innovating and saying "shit fire, if it might work lets fucking try it!" USAF A10 Engine Troop. Proud to walk on the wings that Doolittle, Chapman, the 8th and Tuskegee gave me.

The “Jesus that was short.” Could have been what exactly Doolittle said. The plane like in the film dropped. It actually looked like Doolittle didn’t have control of the plane and crashed into the sea. I heard that this was the toughest takeoff and landing of his entire career. These guys had true courage. Imagine being approached and saying “Hey we are going on a secret mission.” then be told “The secret mission is to take off on aircraft that is not meant for a carrier on a carrier, bomb Tokyo, not have enough fuel and most likely crash somewhere in occupied China. This mission is also a publicity stunt to drive American morale.”
