The Vacant Sea - Pearl Harbor

This sweeping drama, based on real historical events, follows American boyhood friends Rafe McCawley (Ben Affleck) and Danny Walker (Josh Hartnett) as they enter World War II as pilots. Rafe is so eager to take part in the war that he departs to fight in Europe alongside England's Royal Air Force. On the home front, his girlfriend, Evelyn (Kate Beckinsale), finds comfort in the arms of Danny. The three of them reunite in Hawaii just before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

Goof:

The rimless eyeglasses worn by Captain Thurman, with the lenses held in place by a nylon wire, are a relatively modern invention. Back in WWIl, the only rimless eyeglasses that would have been available were what were called "drill-mounts"; holes were drilled into the lenses, and the nose bridge and temples were screwed into the lenses via these drill holes. Nylon wire rimless glasses didn't come into use until many years later.

This movie could have been so much better. They should have gotten rid of the love triangle and as much as I LOVE the brief dogfight scene with the Eagle squadron in the Battle of Britain with Affleck it didn't do anything. They should have stuck with the facts and also make it entertaining. IE-Midway (got a lot right and was still entertaining).

I believe the outcome may have been different if the Admiralty had put the Pacific Fleet on full alert or mobilized the fleet outside of Pearl Harbor and possibly turned the tide of Japan's aggressive expansion into the South Pacific, Dutch East Indies and the Southeast Asia.

In Washington, before the war, uniforms were not worn. When war broke out, many had t visit tailors.

Captain Thurman reminds me a bit of Lee Iacocca, who, by the way, was known for betting on a hunch and sailing into the unknown. That aside, he's right. If only they listened to him.

I desperately need some help people I can't find it anywhere my grandfather is 98 a World War II Navy veteran listen the day before I saw Pearl Harbor all those years ago Grandpa was telling me about being stationed up in Alaska and I said what would you guys do at night Grandpa he said we would play cards and we would the only thing we could get on the radio was this propaganda lady named Tokyo Rose that would just piss us off oh my god there was a quick seen it was like fate these guys had a navy base up in Alaska Tokyo Rose playing in the background and this one sailor says with somebody shut that b**** up LOL I can't find the scene anywhere please help can somebody reply and maybe help me with that it's for a 98 year old veteran please

This movie was and always has been one of the worst. Just my opinion.
