In this episode i play though a lot of different guitar cables to answer the question: Do expensive Guitar Cables sound better??

It's not only a matter of sound is also a matter of feeling and playability.

If you want to go straight to the comparisons go to 10:35

I play through David Laboga Precision Cable, Sinasoid Sable, Lava Cable Ultramafic and Retrocoil, Van Damme, Monster Cable, Fender Cables.

If you buy from this links I get a small commission from Amazon.

You can listen to my music here:

I've used only laboga cables for years. Best signal for effects. Stay well and strong Amigo.

I am so glad you made this video. I have been using a coiled Bullet cable for years, even repairing it, because of its dark sound. I was talking to a high end amp builder who was building an amp for me, won't emabarrass him by name, and he emphatically told me the cable shouldn't change the sound and theres something wrong with my cable .... I thought I was going nuts! I use other cables but the Bullet cable is still my fave :)

I really liked the David Laboga cable with the Epiphone Casino. It should sound nice with a B&G Little Sister too... Have you tried it?

Really good episode, Budda. We know that everything in the signal chain has at least some effect on the tone at the end but how many of us put much thought into the cables/leads that we use? I could hear a marked difference in the different cables and that's through all the compression and 'XYZ' that youtube puts the signal through. This really makes me think about the cables that I use now and the upgrades I need. By the way that's a lovely Tele, Budda, really nice guitar !!

Hi Budda.
Thank you for the video. There IS a difference for sure! I was interested about the Gibson R9 story .. what is your favourite cable for the Les Paul model?
I also enjoy the Evidence Audio and Vovox cables a lot! Have you tried those? Also, speaker cables do make a difference. My plexi gained more high end when I swtiched to Evidence Audio Siren cable.

Hi Budda,
Have you tried the Vovox Cables? Any opinion?

Hi Budda! How long are the cables you use live (guitar to pedalboard)?

Cool vid, thanks man!
30+ years playing, and had no idea that cords could make that much difference!
Im gonna try the lava retro coil first, with my robert cray strat w/custom shop 69 pickups and 66 bandmaster. I dont like strats to sound bright on the high strings. This should do the trick! Thanks dude.

We audiophile have been tinkering with cables all our lives. General rule is, silver is brighter/clearer than Copper. Multistrand cable is bright and solidcore will tame the brightness.

I want to know just one thing: which coiled cable will hendrix my tone combined with a fuzz face and a tube amp? Here in Brazil I found less expensive options from Vox and Fender (Voodoo Child cable).

I do not like the coil cables at all. They're basically a series inductor i.e: low pass filter, and that's exactly what cable technology has evolving against.
The frequency response of the cable will affect both brightness and saturation(at ressonance frequency), but you can tweak that for the "low-fi" sound, not possible the other way arround.
I prefer the cables as clear as possible, I've been running klotz, sommer cable and Neutrik, Hicon for years and they're perfectly good and durable for me.
We as humans are biased, even playing with a fancy cable make us play a little bit differently, and there is nothing wrong with that,
I recommend anyone looking for "the perfect" cable to buy a LCR meter, it will help make a more educated choice and avoid marketing bs.

Hey Budda, purely out of interest I was just wondering how long you've had that Casino? It looks absolutely identical to one I sold earlier this year, right down to the corrosion pattern on the pickup covers... Almost certainly isn't I know, but still, its a nice guitar.

Would you be interested in trying my Tansit Lab cables?

Capacitance is the only thing that matters: I have a 12-position switch with different capacitors to simulate high capacitance cables while using my modern lo-cap cable...

Sinasoid for the P90 (and maybe buckers). Hard between A and B from the tele.
