I will be showing you in this video the best and cheapest way to travel from the Lisbon Airport (PORTELA) to the city center, which is by the metro ("Metropolitano de Lisboa" in Portuguese language). You will need a ticket which cost 1.45 Euros for single trip or a 24 hour ticket for only 6.30 Euros.
I will also be demonstrating in this video, how to purchase a metro ticket, which you can also use in buses, trains and ferries. The Lisbon metro system, opened in December 1959, was the first subway system of Portugal. It is considered as one of the cleanest in Europe.
Enjoy the video and please don't forget to look and subscribe to our channel!

There are important considerations you didn't mention: Did you bring Euro with you from your home country? If not, did you exchange currency in the airport? Will the cash ticket machine give change for a 10 Euro note? In you last video, you were going to the city center and not the river. I need to know how to find the right train at the transfer station - red line to green line. I don't want to get on the green train going in the wrong direction.

great video but that name of the airport is the old one... the actual name is "Humberto Delgado Airport"

Mike, this video is very important For people that have not been in Lisbon before, the instructions are too fast and the editing is complex, too rough, it should be better to explain it slow with details to better understand. It was too quick, didn’t explain clearly the difference on all the fares that are available at the machine.

Don’t need to be rude with the passers by. They are happily walking and enjoying the views. They might even be locals. Respect them as a visitor you are.

Great video, thanks! Is it easy to use Metro from airport with a full size Luggage? Can I take that on escalator, get through the turnstile?

Are there some private buses or something like that or that ticket is really valid for all type of public transport? What about trams? In may city we have one ticket for everything, but I know it's not too common in the world.
