Water polo is tally a highly recognized sport. It's super hard, basically like playing an entire rugby match in a pool.

I fail to see how steeplechase, trampolining, water polo, slalom, the hammer throw and everything else listed are "weird" sports.

Speed walking looks silly and it's absurd that equestrian dressage is an Olympic sport. The entire sport is literally how well you trained a horse. That's impressive, but it's not an athletic competition. But everything else listed is a very common sport. Water polo is one of the most popular sports in the world while the hammer throw and steeplechase are very basic human motions.

I guess you had to fill out a full top 10 list.

There is NOTHING weird at these events. In the US, they might be weird, but in Europe they are not.
You should give them a try.
