Russian citizens are bracing for possible food price rises and shortages linked to Western sanctions on Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine. In the Russian town of Pokrov, about 100km (60 miles) east of Moscow, items like sugar have already vanished from many store shelves as residents rush to buy staples they fear they will not be able to afford if costs do increase. Russian officials have offered assurances that the nation will not suffer any food shortages, and have urged the population to refrain from panic buying.

They are not "Sanctions". They are "Special Economic Operations"

There are no winners in a war.
Just who loses less.

It's not sanctions. It's special economic disparity operation.

You cannot attack a sovereign country and bring misery to them and expect to live a life of luxury.

This is not just in Russia. Even in other countries, we're seeing massive increases in prices all across the board.

If there are shortages then take to the streets to protest. Wait, it’s illegal to protest in Russia which means Russia is not a country but a large scale prison.

In Greece there are now limits on the amount of flour, sugar and sunflower oil you buy.

The worst part is that it’s gonna get so much worse some months from now. Ukraine is huge and produces massive amounts of the world’s food supply. It’s like 10% of all global exports of both barley and wheat, 15% of all corn and so much more. If we add Russia they make almost 25% of all wheat exports. Imagine that being gone.
Well, this is the time to sow crops, to get ready to feed the world. But their farmers are fleeing or taking up guns currently, their fields only fertilized by dead bodies. There won’t be anything to harvest. We’re headed for a worldwide food shortage. We’re headed for a famine.

Bless the lady at the end who said "so long as the war does not escalate." This brought a tear to my eye. I hope normal Russians will learn the truth.

It’s always the innocent who pay for the crimes of the ones in power…

Every time I start feeling compassion to those people, I hear someone like the old lady at the end, who hopes no war coming her way, but feels no remorse or compassion to Ukrainians her country is waging war on, and I understand that war was made possible by these people who either wanted it, supported it or didn't care.

Как это все мерзко. Если бабушки скупают тонну сахара за 30 минут, это не значит, что его нет в стране. Не надо врать

I feel bad for the normal people living on both sides, all because of some old men ordering young men to die for their mental illnesses

All of that could have been avoided if the war never started

its the same for western countries, infaltion rising, food price going up, petrol and energy prices going through the roof, the west are not exceptional entitled and privileged and sanctions work both ways, only the rich feel less pain

What about Ukrainians, lost their homes, their work, their families everything is gone. Sad.. Praying that this war will end sooner and people will live at peace and children will smile again.
