Whenever I’m at the hardware store I always check out the seed packet range, sometimes they stock the unusual ones & there’s no shipping as you can buy right then and there!

Then there’s always seed swapping with friends too !
Great video, thank you for the excellent tips!

Hogwash! Poppycock! Humbug!

He/she who dies with the most seed packets wins!

(Or so I tell myself as I look at the 20+ types of tomato seeds and 30+ types of hot pepper seeds in my seed box which will exceed the space I have available in my garden…. I need to start attending some SBAA meetings (Seed-Buying Addicts Anonymous). 😛

Many libraries in the US have seed libraries.

my brother and I own a true value hardware store. every year we have a good surplus of seed packets. right now in my house i have about 1000 packets of seeds. since i live in another state, i try to sell the seeds from the last year to my neighbors at a highly reduced price

Try little shop of seeds. The packets are .75 per pack and you get plenty per pack. They just come in generic packaging.

I agree with all of your advice, but you did not mention buying seeds at big-box stores, Walmart, the Dollar Store, etc. My advice for most gardeners is to buy the basics at these stores, where packets cost around $2.00+ a packet. For example, why would anyone buy Bloomsdale spinach from a seed catalogue when you can buy it in any store? Then, go to the seed catalogues for specific varieties, like an F1 hybrid broccoli that is heat-tolerant, for example. Some companies can be quite pricey. Johnny's, for example, is an really great company that specializes in F1 hybrids, but the seeds cost a minimum of $5.50 a pack. I only buy from Johnny's for very specific varieties not available in stores.

I just discovered you today, and I've already watched several videos. Great information! One question I have that you didn't cover in your video... are cheaper seeds inferior to more expensive seeds? For example, will I have a lesser quality yield using seeds that I buy at the Dollar Tree for $1.25 versus seeds I can buy at the hardware store versus seeds I order from a catalog?
