Cheap Grow Lights |LED Shop Light RESULTS|

Cheap LED shop lights are a great alternative to the fancy grow lights the gardening industry is trying to sell you. Too much thought is put into lights when other factors are more important (Temperature, Humidity, Nutrients, Root space). Certain spectrums of light are mamdatory for flowering and fruiting according to some. Did you know that "white light" actually contains these spectrums? Hold a prism to the light and see.

This is a follow up to my original video. The original video is linked below:

My indoor starts have overstayed their welcome and demonstrate the power of the CHEAP LED shop lights. Give them a shot!

More expensive, but pretty cool!:

Video got flagged as adult content so I couldn't showcase my "mature audience" plants that I only grow as companion plants, ornamentals, and gifts to friends. They are doing very good under these lights! Buds getting ready to come in

The ones in the solo cups have really thick stems, I'm impressed!

I purchased the shop lights you had linked in the previous video and had great results starting seeds. I did not have room to plant everything that germinated (tomatoes, squash, eggplant, peppers, tomatillo, herbs, etc). I saved a lot of money thanks to your video.

I'm in Alaska and I've never used a grow light. I only have used yard sale shop lights and always get good results

I grow tomatoes year round indoors with a shop light. Been doing it for years. I also have been growing fig. I get fruit several times throughout the year. My plants definitely are not the best looking but that's because of their keeper's failure to tend to them regularly. Yes, shop lights work fine. Keep up the good work! I'll be putting my oyster mycelium into a straw bale tomorrow! I enjoy your videos.💞

I took your advice and these lights work great. After running out of space outside, I left several tobacco plants inside, in tiny little pots they started in. They are now flowering. Wish I could share a picture here, it’s unbelievable.

my first year of gardening i used LED shop lights like those. They worked. You are right it is mostly environmental when it comes to growing inside. Good job!

Yes! This is so true! I actually regret buying the expensive grow lights because the shop lights are flowering all my flowers, peppers and tomatoes right now! I can’t get in the ground for another week but I’ve been wanting to do indoors all year round with a couple things and these lights are definitely the ones I will use for that! I actually bought my shop lights because of your video on them a little while back so thank you!

Thank you. Very compelling. Growing food in the basement zone 6 requires growing cold weather crops simple as that. Other than starting tomatoes, basement is for spinach and kale

You're absolutely right! Plants will flower under any color temperature light, certain spectrums (620-720nm) are ideal; if you have a 6500k light -that includes the fruiting spectrum of light. It's odd to me that some people don't realize that fact. If I was growing a crop like cannabis, and yield was of paramount importance, I'd still use shop lights, and I'd simply supplement with red lights during the flowering phase.
I think what is equally important for floweering, are the nutrients that you provide the plants, and you mentioned chickens, so I think that's more impactful than the color temperature of your lighting... As an aside, I would pinch out all your blooms (fruits too), until you have your tomatoes transplanted, in the end, you're likely to get a better yield, but that's up to you. I now live in Seattle and planting time for tomatoes is June, I start my plants indoors and remove blooms -or I purchase larger plants in June. Pinching out the blooms lets the plants focus energy on establishing better root and vegetative growth. All that said, to each his own. If a system works for you, do what makes sense financially and practically. Thanks for the video!

I have a 12" x 48" x 72" tall SS wire rack with three 5000k, 40 watt, 4500 lumen shop lights over each of two of the shelves, all on timers 16 hours on. 8 hours off. I start the seeds two weeks before the recommended time, transplant as necessary when root bound, and cut any flowers off of tomatoes, peppers, and cukes. The plants are healthy and produce well once outside.

This is right up my alley, I just wanna get around dumb tobacco taxes. Glad to see I can do it cheap!

I stared 50 burley tobacco seeds on top of the fridge and they all germinated but got too tall and lanky. Now I I have a small LED light right on top of them. I intend to move them outside March 15 or so. Man, I hope this works. Every thing I do in the garden is an experiment!

Thanks to your info the shop lights did wonders for my seedlings (I'm a first year grower). Everything is outside and growing beautifully.

LED garage ceiling light with deformable panels work fantastic. I use a true 240 watt per plant. You can get 12 of them for less than 150 bucks. You can adjust the panels to direct light, they are very light and easy to hang above the the lights. It will grow and bud plants as well as any LED grow light. To buy an equivalent LED grow light would be a couple grand. :-)

I found my local Salvation Army carries LED lights. They have 1500lum 4000k lights for $1 each. They are 3ft long. I rigged 16 up for a whole array. Not sure how will work yet but encouraged by seeing this! Thanks @FastGardeningMichigan

people who say that you cant get flowers and fruits with standard lighting dont understand photosynthesis. Plants dont care about the kind of light : they will optimise with what they are given and try to "do" their best. But indeed when you manipulate the spectrum you can get more flowers and fruit (with adding red light to the spectrum for example)... Growlights are for optimal growth if you're looking for profitable results and if you're looking for production. If not, then standard 6500k will work but you wont get the max production for a given crop.

I have absolutely used led shop lights to start seeds with great success. And you answered my question about which one takes more energy thanks

When i was a kid we put up some flourecent lights in a friends unventilated wardrobe and actually managed to flower a weed plant and harvest like 10 grams.
The guy even went on ski holiday for 2 weeks and the plant had no water and the lamp failed sometime during his trip, didnt matter, plant still got back to growing.
It was bad, but i've actually seen worse import stuff from morroco or the balkans. As 14 year olds it was cool as hell though. Good times.
