I was going to leave these kind old ladies alone. Until suddenly one of them almost gave me a heart attack as she jumped out from the bushes with a huge ass butcher's cleaver trying to cut me in half. When I turned the others had crazy eyes too. Then I tried running and a guy wearing human skin killed me. At least for a few minutes I had the illusion of this place being wholesome until I found out it's not a retirement home for them. It was a retirement home for me - the forced retirement kind. From life.

It's seriously astounding how populated the world of Elden Ring is. I honestly don't think I have EVER seen so many different types of enemies and places in one game. Like no matter where you go on that map there is always something new. It's ridiculous.

when I came out of the starting area and saw all those crucified people, I assumed they were dead. Later I was like "Where is that horrible wailing and groaning noise coming from?" Then I realized all those crucified people were alive, and probably were other Tarnished like yourself. That got me

I was just waiting for the moment they would all stop laughing and turn to face the player at the same time.

When I walked through this area I thought to myself: "First off, super cool that they added in a reference to the dancing plague. Second off, I don't remember this part of Berserk."

Those T. rex dogs and crows in caelid actually give me panic attacks. They are fucking terrifying.

This seems like a nod to the dancing plague of 1518.

There’s a godskin at the end of this village and a ghost npc at the beginning talking about how they’re going to skin him. Since godskins killed and skinned gods, maybe the villagers worship them by doing the same thing to people? One interesting thing is the fact that there’s no corpses despite the talk of skinning. Makes you wonder what they did with the bodies.

I distinctly remember walking towards a group of them dancing around a fire thinking: "huh, they seem happy... wait... where's all the men? Oh... that's what's burning."

Yeah, this is giving me vibes from the movie "Midsommar". Time to tactically *NOPE* the fuck out clear to the next time zone.

I think the one thing I’ve come to learn about this world after a weekend of exploring and whatnot is that this land is really, really fucked. I’m not really sure why my dude would even want to become an Elden Lord of this hellscape.

You must be out of your mind. I love this place and how the granny's are vibing. I spent 5 minutes hiding in the bush and watching them dance. Their dancing can work with any song and I mean any.

I found this place where there was something like a demon inside a little forest. The demon was singing, his voice was pretty good. When I found him, I stopped for many seconds cause it was the most weird thing I've seen and hear in a game. I thought he was some kind of friendly NPC, but no, he was a normal enemy like every other one.

PS: Sorry for my bad English.

This place definitely threw me for a loop the first time I went there as my sorceress: not every horrifying area needs enemies that attack on sight. The villagers only really attack if alarmed or otherwise provoked, but their madness and the wickedness of their festivities is still very present: especially given what the ghost in the area says and the area boss.

reminds me of that : "The dancing epidemic of 1518 is a case of dancing mania observed in Strasbourg in Alsace (then part of the Holy Roman Empire) in July 1518.
Many people danced without resting for more than a month, some of them dying of heart attacks, strokes or exhaustion"

When I got here, I let them mind their own business. Then I talked to the ghost, figured out what happened and slaughtered the whole village.
