Given this new info on Uzuhiko, I want to compare it to a river. My interpretation is that the chakra within the planet creates eddies, much like a river does, and Boruto can tap into these eddies and control these chakra spirals, because he may have equal to if not better chakra control than Sakura. He uses shape change to swirl these around him and has to amass the chakra into a long, tight spiral to unleash it with his rasengan, this is why he has to "charge" it.

I’m going to guess that the soul thorn that koji has seen before is kakashi’s (who got bit in time skip) Which is why boruto knows purple lightning.
They defeated him, and changed kakashi back from a tree to normal (which is how boruto has the knowledge to collect the soul thorn for sasuke).

jura literally spoke about the healing of the bijuu last chapter and now all off a sudden hidari needs the tree. nah this feels very weird and kinda feels like its also connected to the thorn spirit>

Maybe jura is the literal ten tails and all other shinju awakened beause of him but because he needs "something" he can't really reveal that to the shinju .
