According to this hack, if you rub your fingers on a clove of garlic you’ll be able to easily pick up an egg yolk without breaking it.

I thought maybe this was user error so I called Maria in to try it with me. No luck.

Save the mess (and the garlic) and just separate the yolk from the while by using the shell as a strainer.

Stop making things so complicated

It’s the sticky substance you need on your fingers when you dice up garlic. It does work flawlessly. Just didn’t do it right

That's the way I separate eggs, too. After 70 years in the kitchen I've tried many different ways. Simple works.

It works, it’s best if you cut the garlic open and rub the insides, once your fingers are sticky from the garlic you’re good to go.

this actually does work i myself use this because the way you do it i have never been able to do that and have wasted countless eggs trying it lol

It does work. You need to squeeze it pretty good between your thumb, index, and middle finger. Once the garlic has coated your fingers in oil, only touch the yoke with those fingers and no other fingers. Also make sure your fingers aren't wet before the garlic. It does work.

Can also crack into a cuped hand and the egg whites fall into the bowl the yellow stays in your hand.

Just let the white slip through your fingers. Using the shells is a great way to pop your yolk, ruin your whites, and find shells and egg whites in the yolk. I just crack them into a bowl, and pick them up. Effective and easy

It does work, it was clearly user error. The yolk needs to already be separated and have dry hands. I've only been a chef for 6 years.

It works you just have to pinch tightly enough for the egg yolk not to break but enough to hold on
