Assassin's Creed | The Return of Desmond Miles

Desmond Miles has been gone for over a decade now. R.I.P Desmond. However, after seeing him appear in the form of the reader in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the chances of Desmond returning to Assassin's Creed seems quite inevitable, whether he's revived in his physical form or continues to protect the Earth in the gray.

Desmond’s story was so great! I’ll never forget the chills that went down my spine when playing the end of AC2 and ezio learns of who Desmond is and who he’ll one day be…

I always loved both modern day and Desmond as a protagonist. Never never NEVER understood why people hated em, never.

I do miss Desmond and I can think of multiple ways that they could bring him back, given established series lore. I halfway thought they might have brought him back in Syndicate when it was revealed that the Shroud of Eden was used for restoration and healing.

I really hope Desmond returns. That would make a lot of people really happy!

Desmond is the soul of the series and we didn't know how much we loved him til we lost him. Or at least alot of dans didn't. Personally i always loved the modern day. So glad he might be coming back and i hope they do a great job explaining what his ghost (Or whatever he is) has been up to since 3.

The end of Valhalla definitely felt like the beginning of a new modern day plot. I think the main protagonist will continue to be Basim while The Reader(Desmond) and Layla do whatever the hell they’re doing in the Grey. We’re also not too sure what Basim’ motives are yet which could be very interesting if done right.

im not a big fan of the modern day but i do prefer having desmond or layla rather than no character like black flag, unity and syndicate and this new valhalla storyline has me reinvested with a sense of direction especially with basim

I miss Desmond every day since black flag… it’s been 10 years… I stopped caring & playing assassins creed since his absence. They must bring him & Nolan back…

Desmond is my favorite character in AC franchise, even better than Ezio.
Imagine they bring him back and in the future, they do a game without the past, entirely focused on the present, with Demond as the main assassin protagonist, this would be an Avengers End Game kind of plot, and it would be awesome.
Not sure Ubisoft is ready for this kind of change tho, they went in a direction that in my opinion, there's no coming back.

Personally, I’d find it interesting if Desmond’s son became a later important character or maybe even the protagonist. He could even possibly in some capacity come in contact with his father, whom may find Elijah a key figure in preventing more destruction.

Isu could easily be written to have the tech to rebuild Desmond’s body into something amazing. Imagine they rebuild him with a permanent animus integrated into him. Where every assassin he’s connected to is actively with him everywhere he goes. Letting him parallel and hop between “sim worlds” he could use all their abilities and knowledge to uncover the ultimate conspiracy that spans multiple centuries… jus saying.

Desmond is always more than welcomed to return for older fans.
My cousin changed his name to Desmond because of the games.

What I'm really excited for is to see William Miles and Basim relate on losing a son. I could see one trying to negotiate with the other over something dramatic.

Layla really made me appreciate everything about the modern day story line before she showed up. I have always hated modern story line and still do, but wow would did I not know how relatively good the older ones were to the newer stuff.

I always wished even, back in the ezio day, they'd make a modern day assassins creed with futuristic tech just like the hidden blade was super advanced for the time

One of the things I enjoyed about the modern day sections in AC1-AC3 was seeing how Desmond slowly grew into the modern day equivalent of his ancestors; he was born and raised in a sheltered chapter of the brotherhood and wasn't given a choice similar to Altair, inevitably leaving to rebel, yet retained what he learnt to stay off the grid...until Abstergo. With him learning Ezio's abilities so quickly and that awesome end credits fight with Abstergo forces in AC2, it felt like it was building up to a game entirely set in the present day, following Desmond's proper role as a master assassin through what he learnt through the animus and his ancestors' experience, which is sort of what we got in AC3, but I always wanted more...and still do. I love the historical theme of the games, but just for one game I'd love to see that.

Desmond Miles needs to return because he was the best protagonist in assassin’s creed

Des was the soul of this franchise, you saw him in ezio, and ezio in him. You saw him as ezio was ripped away from him (through the dilution of his experience) but you also saw Desmond grow into his own.

I want my des member berries, and I've always been pissed that des needed memberries in the first place.

The "bad" ending to assasins creed could have been WAY more interesting with Des leading the way, but railing against his role as a Christ figure. They could have alway found a way to regain the tech of the animus.... just because the Annunaki equivalents had a prophecy didn't mean our boy couldn't find his way out of it.

Perfect set up for a tale of a person fighting against fate in a setting that hadn't been explored in modern culture to that large of a degree yet.

I genuinely never understood the hate for Desmond. I like him, he was this everyman in over his head I could relate to. It's so blatantly obvious he was originally intended to become the hero at the end, and having him touch a ball and die at the end of AC3 was such an anti-climax that made everything before seem utterly meaningless. Ubisoft straight up hijacked this storyline.
