Man Speaks Out After Neighbor Calls Him a ‘Cat Pervert’

Dramatic video captured a dispute between a California pet owner and his neighbor. The pet owner is upset over his cat, Mercury, wandering into his next-door neighbor's yard in San Diego. He accuses his neighbor of purposely holding the cat hostage, an allegation the neighbor denies. The angry cat owner suggested for his neighbor to "say Mercury go home, don't come in our yard anymore." He later called his neighbor a "cat pervert." Inside Edition caught up with the neighbor to hear his side of the story.

We ‘had’ a cat, who spent only few hours per day in our home. We never knew where he went every day. When once we had a big neighborhood party together, and he showed up turned out 2 other families thought he was their cat too 😀

I'm glad I live in a neighborhood where we look out for the outdoor cats and the owners know that they can trust us to keep their cats safe. Our next door neighbor has a cat who loves to visit our house and a few other house around us and the cat is such a sweet heart. Our neighbor was just happy to hear that we don't mind Bob visiting and that we like cats because she worries about him when he sneaks out.

My spouse and I have four indoor cats who all have times they prefer my spouse over me or me over my spouse. Cats do what they want and if someone doesn't want their cat wandering then keep the cat indoors. We keep our cats indoor because we don't want anything to happen to them but sometimes let them out back with supervision. We want to turn our patio into an enclosed catio where they can hang out and enjoy outside without being in danger.
