This is the best short EVER! (Side note: an emu wandered on to our farm once long ago and refused to leave. We actively searched for the owner and found none. This was before social media. It showed up in 1995 and stayed until it passed in 2002. Our farm is in a very rural area so it's still hard to imagine how it showed up and nobody knew about it. Maybe it escaped from a trailer that was passing thru or something. All I know for sure is that he gave my great grandmother a lot of joy because she was the only person who lived in the house at the farm then and she treated it like family and did research to find it's favorite treats and what it needed for a healthy diet. People from neighboring farms and whatnot would stop by to take pictures, bring their visiting grandkids to see him and give treats, etc. He was an awesome bird and brought joy to all. Might've even helped keep my great grandma around a little longer). Since then, I've got a soft spot for emu's.
