Betaflight vs EmuFlight vs INAV - which one is the best for 5-inch on default settings?

Which flight controller software is the best for 5-inch FPV drones? There are at least a few options: Betaflight, INAV, EmuFlight, KISS, FlightOne and if you dig deep enough, you will find a few other niche products.
Anyhow, I have no hardware to run KISS and FlightOne. Still, that left me with a possibility to run Betaflight EmuFlight and INAV on one of my 5-inch FPV kwads.
So, without further ado, let's have a test: Betaflight vs EmuFlight vs INAV. Same 5-inch kwad, same pilot, same day. No tuning, no adjustments. Just a few packs on each flight controller software. Full defaults! Is Betaflight the best? Can INAV compete? Or maybe EmuFlight is the best?

Some would argue that since the pics, filters, etc.. are where the platforms are different. Not sure this is a fair test as far as the actual program goes.

Today I had my first go at Emuflight with my 3 inch. I was blown away. I am just flying casually for a year and am not great at pid tuning, but emu is flying super locked in and smooth with stock pids. Now I am thinking to convert my 2.5, 3 and 5 inches to Emuflight and my 7 inch LRs to Inav.

Hi everybody. In most cases it´s not only the question of software.. It´s also the Hardware in my experience. Im trying out a lot, but if i change Fc´s/ Esc`s in my quads, it´s a completely different behave on the same firmware. Same Frames and motors on stock settings (only rates are changed), it dose´t matter if it´s betaflight, inav, butterflight and so on. You will always get different flight performance and tuning will always be necessary in most cases...if you´re willing too ;-)

Today I did same test as experiment. Flash EMUflught 0.2.0 and Betaflight 4.0.
Both is stock settings except my rates, but rates are the same for both EMU and Beta.
Two same light racing frame SourceTwo V2, same motors Xing 2207 2450kv, same brand new props ( I have try two type of modern props), same camera. Only difference is FC. One is Mamba F4 and another is F7.


I have try really strong to find any difference. I can produce propwash if I turn really fast at full speed and punch full throttle. Both propwash very similar just a split second. Both quads feels great in the air, light and fast.
I have try 10+ batteries one after another an one one thing I have find out.
At the blind test I will never be able to say which one is Beta and which one is Emu.
At this stage both firmware feels the same. At least for 5" quad.
I heard that EMUflight a little better for smaller quads cause Beta more focused on 5". I have two same quads as well. Maybe I will do same test.

Number 1 is EmuFlight, just flies well. Number 2 is BetaFlight, because you mentioned it needs PID tuning, that you are not willing to do. So, the number 3 will be INAV, not bad not good.
