Low Resting Heart Rate

What is your resting heart rate?
.
My heart rate hovers around 40 but has been dropping slighlty after some good training and even better recovery
.
Your resting heart rate is great thing to measure as it can show how your body is feeling and can even predict illness. If you know what your resting heart rate usually is and it is all of a sudden much higher, you know that something isn't right and it is time to look at your recovery and training load
.
Some people can be concerned with a heart rate lower than the supposed average given by a quick Google search. Normally you should be OK, especially if you are not feeling any bad symptoms. If you are concerned though, I recommend speaking to a qualified professional.

I went to the hospital one time, my heart rate was in the 30's. They thought I was on drugs. Apparently Medical personal do not like hard workouts.

45, mines always been a little lower. I've seen it around 40 before. I just attribute it to being a rower. I'm 36F

Thanks for making this video. Im 43 and have had a low resting heart rate of 35 since I was 20. After 2 visits to the cardiologist they tell me Im fine. Ive always been active and never felt ill. Never dizzy or anything. Although Dr 's me I should be fine I still worry. It's scary watching the monitor hit 34.

38. No issues. Walk 5-10 miles a day every day

I know you wear the chest straps too - I don't trust any wrist reading from watches, they are always horribly off during training. Polar chest strap is more accurate and usually adds 10bpm on avg (and matches to my beat by touch test).
I use the OURA ring also, you should give that a go - I'd love to see your sleep data.

According to my watch, training app etc my lowest resting HR is 38 - 41 and my fitness age is 26... which is not too bad for a 64yo male 😎 (forgot to say my max for training is 159 -195 )

My hovers around 45 at rest. 30s while sleeping. Im no endurance athlete but i am a farrier. And that is basically endurance crossed with strength. Shoeing about 3 horses and trimming about 15 horses a day and im in the humidity.

First thing in the morning my RHR is 37-40. Resting during the day usually 50 or so. My max is also 213 (give or take as that was a vo2 max test a few years ago now) so quite a range

I'm 73. Last year I was walking home and collapsed on the street. I made it back but they diagnosed me with a heart block at the local OR. They had my heart in the 30's I think. Two days later they decided to test for a stroke and discovered that I had one of those, too! I was helicopters to another hospital and they inserted a pacemaker. Trouble was I had afib. Probably it was a healthy heart except for the rhythm., so when screwed up blood clotted. I've had two ablations and probably removed the source of the problem, but I'm ok with the pacemaker (does nothing unless I dip below 60 and it can be set otherwise). So my great heart wasn't perhaps as healthy as I thought despite a lot of bike riding over the last few decades.

It depends on how many beers I got the night before 🍺

43 according to my Garmin, but Garmin's are notoriously known for underestimating your resting heart rate. Lowest Ive seen while asleep is 40

I am 58 and trained most of my days. Including ultra marathons. I now row most days doing Concept WOD's or 10k's. My resting HR is 45-50.

35m - 44 rhr. Been training hard for the past 4 months. When I started it was near 55~. My endurance through my workouts is quite strong.

It’s in the 70s when I’m up walking about, 55-60 when at rest

Between 50-60 although go to gym 3-4 times a week for weight training and at least one hour erg session and one hour water session per week.

Mine is similar (33 is the lowest I've seen it). It's fine, apart from the fact that it takes a while to pick up, so when I stand up quickly, I often feel faint.

You should make videos on rowing form and techniques

My resting heart rate has been at 44 at its lowest, but is generally in the lows 50s, around 52 to 53.

Resting heart rates consistently under 70 indicate metabolic dysfunction. Its now coming to light that long term high performance endurance athletics are increasingly responsible for metabolic dysfunction and outcomes like parkinsons.
