TESTING A DIESEL INJECTOR NOZZLE

Showing a crude but effective method for setting the cracking pressure on diesel engine injectors.

Note* If you do knot like my methods, relax, I am not a diesel shop working on other people's equipment. Just a guy working on his old engines in his spare time...

This video helped me a lot I could not get my new injectors to work, also bought a new injector pump also, $$$, I bleed them a lot .but none of the kubota repair books I purchased had the simple adjustment on the top of the injector you showed in this video, I did this and tractor starts right up, and runs smooth, thanks I love working on different projects that I know nothing about and youtube is so helpful

Good video! Dribbling injectors cause smoky exhaust and if extreme will wash lubricating oil from the cylinder walls. Often it's caused by worn surfaces in the valve or bad o-rings. Sometimes lapping the valve disc and seat will restore sharp cutoff. But, for a show engine, it's not really too critical.

my old boss had a fancy diesel injector tester, he showed me how to use it and NEVER put any body part near the nozzle when testing. same goes when cracking a injector line when bleeding air or diagnosing a driveability issue, 2 -3000 psi will blow a hole in your skin and cause blood poisoning which could lead to death

Good just like I was taught in diesel systems class. I don't know if you did this we used to polish the injector pin and point with very fine (not sure I spelled this right) rouge and a felt pad. I think you can very carefully relap the pin
and seat with the rouge just make sure you get it cleaned up good. Its been 20 years since those classes. Good luck.

Owe my god when the video hit 2:40 time, My misses made that sound in bed, Does this mean her pressure builds up gets to 1700 psi before she releases. Got to be separate beds for me and her from now on` she may blow a hole in my skin lol
Great Video but safety glasses and masks you do not want to be breathing in all that fine mist to often all else your be sounding like that when you breath.
You should also catch all fuel with measuring bottles to measure each jet, to see if they deliver all same level fuel

This is a very good video, thanks, i have one cyl. knocking from the injector, (Iveco DI 8140.21 2445 cc on a 1987 Sea Ray Seville CC, here in Porto, Pt )have to remove it, too bad i still don't have a setup to pressurise it; i shd have made one like yours long time ago lol
