I've notice a ton of people look at price returns, not total returns. It dramatically changes the equation, so to speak, especially when you consider the increased number of shares your dollar is purchasing when prices drop.

After a nightmarish 2022, shell-shocked investors have losses to recoup and plenty to ponder, as an inflation report and a raft of other data did little to change expectations that the Federal Reserve would likely continue hiking intrest rates even if the economy slows down, Which means more red ink for portfolios for the first quarter of year 2023. How can I profit from the current volatile market, I'm still at a crossroads deciding if to liquidate my $250k bond/stocck portfolio

If you were retired then 2022 might have been your worst year. I was working and putting 20% of my salary into a market full of bargains!

This was a year of buying assets at a lower cost and in the long run should pay off well

I lost big last year ($30k-$40k) did some changes to my index funds. Now I see it growing when I checked up on it today. Went from 25% now I’m at 28% investing and soon I be playing the catch up.

2022 wasn’t so bad for me. I learned how to write covered calls, I was also heavily invested into uranium so the volatility of 2022 with the side ways markets on a fast growing industry had my covered calls printing. Also got into lots of companies I’d previously wanted at lower entries. I learned how to setup bond ladders, bought ibonds as well, and acquired more dividend stocks within my Roth. 2022 was my best year so far but I’ve only been doing this for almost 3 years.

I’ve got a feeling 2023 will be well for me unless something goes wild. Took many profits off my risky plays and put them into indexes. I feel a lot of people end up with a stock they buy being +10% but they hold on and end up missing out. I find taking profits is key if you’re using risky strats too
