The Old Covenant vs the New Covenant?

So we drink the New Covenant in His blood, but somehow we are not partaking in that New Covenant? Drinking represents that we are drinking it in, that is a clear teaching that we are in the New Covenant, it's obvious and there is no excuse for ignoring what it teaches.

This one is no prooftext, but it should offer clarity: In John chapter four the Lord Jesus tells the Samaritan woman "Yall know not what yall worship. We know what we worship, because salvation is from the Jews."

Here is where the matter is addressed explicitly and clearly. Note that we just read that His blood which we drink is the New Covenant; we are about to read that gentile converts are also in that blood. Even without that specific point, the matter is explicitly clarified, so I'll just let the reader hear the Scriptures here:

"As yet the God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us even when we were dead in sins, has enlivened us together with Christ, (by grace yall are saved;) and has raised us up together, and made us sit together with in heavenly in Christ Jesus: so that in the ages to come he may show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. Because by grace yall are having been saved by way of faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, so none may boast. Because we are his creation, established in Christ Jesus unto good works which the God has before ordained that we should walk in them by way of that.

Remember thusly: that yall, being in time past Gentiles in the flesh who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands, thusly, that at that time yall were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no expectation, and godless in the world. As yet now in Christ Jesus yall, who sometimes were far off, are made near in the blood of Christ, because he is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us; having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments in dogmas, so that he make, in himself, the two unto one new man, making peace, and he may reconcile both in one body unto the God by way of the cross, having killed off the enmity therein, and came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were near, thusly, that by way of him we both have access in one Spirit unto the Father. Thus therefore, yall are no more strangers and foreigners, but instead citizens together with the saints, and of the household of the God; and are being onbuilt upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, being the chief corner stone of him Jesus Christ; in whom all the building fitly framed together grows unto holy temple in Lord: in whom yall also are builded together unto an habitation of the God in Spirit."

This is a great study brother Corey!

I believe the issue with accepting that we are not part of the new covenant is that most of us were brought up in a hard core legalistic old covenant conditional relationship with Christ.

And the way I was and most of us were brought out of that old covenant religious mentality was by accepting our position in the new covenant as the new covenant speaks to the beautiful promises of salvation security and once for all forgiveness.

So most of us have taken the words of the Apostle Paul to heart when he says we are ministers of the new covenant and we are so excited about this new identity in Christ that we by default throw ourselves into the new covenant bandwagon.

But as you have broken it down so eloquently, we can be part of the Abrahamic covenant and reap the rewards of the atoning work of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Would love for you to continue discussing this perhaps in greater detail if possible.

Thank you for sharing the wisdom that God has gifted you with!

In Christ!

THE SCRIPTURE is EPHESIANS 2.
The wait is over.

Ephesians 2 even says the gentiles are in His blood, the same blood we drink as representing the New Covenant. Corey, is the teaching which is integrated into Communion itself really an insufficient teaching for you to learn it? We only have two sacraments; we drink the New Covenant in one of those sacraments. I would urge you to consider the sacredness and truthfulness of the Communion and what it represents. Communion is for the Church. The blood which represents the New Covenant is for the Church, not only for ethnically Israeli Church members.

I look forward to the video where you correct yourself on this.
I expect I will be seeing it in the days or weeks to come.

Shalom.

Jer_31:31  "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah—
Jer 31:32  not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD.
Jer 31:33  But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
Jer 31:34  No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD, ' for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more."

Mat_26:28  For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Mar_14:24  And He said to them, "This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many.

Luk_22:20  Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.

1Co_11:25  In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."

2Co_3:6  who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
2Co 3:7  But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away,
2Co 3:8  how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?

Heb 8:6  But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.
Heb 8:7  For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second.
Heb 8:8  Because finding fault with them, He says: "BEHOLD, THE DAYS ARE COMING, SAYS THE LORD, WHEN I WILL MAKE A NEW COVENANT WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND WITH THE HOUSE OF JUDAH—
Heb 8:9  NOT ACCORDING TO THE COVENANT THAT I MADE WITH THEIR FATHERS IN THE DAY WHEN I TOOK THEM BY THE HAND TO LEAD THEM OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT; BECAUSE THEY DID NOT CONTINUE IN MY COVENANT, AND I DISREGARDED THEM, SAYS THE LORD.
Heb 8:10  FOR THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS IN THEIR MIND AND WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.
Heb 8:11  NONE OF THEM SHALL TEACH HIS NEIGHBOR, AND NONE HIS BROTHER, SAYING, 'KNOW THE LORD, ' FOR ALL SHALL KNOW ME, FROM THE LEAST OF THEM TO THE GREATEST OF THEM.
Heb 8:12  FOR I WILL BE MERCIFUL TO THEIR UNRIGHTEOUSNESS, AND THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE."
Heb 8:13  In that He says, "A NEW COVENANT, " He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

Heb_9:15  And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

Heb 10:16  "THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THEM AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR HEARTS, AND IN THEIR MINDS I WILL WRITE THEM, "
Heb 10:17  then He adds, "THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE."
Heb 10:18  Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.

We are not come to Mount Sinai in the passage below. Instead, we are come to the New Covenant of Mount Zion.

Heb 12:18  For you have not come to the mountain that may be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and darkness and tempest,
(Mount Sinai)

Heb 12:22  But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels,
Heb 12:23  to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect,
Heb_12:24  to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.

(NKJV)

Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart.

All man-made Bible doctrines are revealed not by the scripture quoted by its proponents, but rather by the scripture they must ignore to make it work.

The ultimate fulfillment of Israel is found in Matthew 1:1, as confirmed by Paul in Galatians 3:16 as the one seed to whom the promise was made.
He is both the "Word" in John 1:1, and the Son of God, and King of Israel in John 1:49.

On the road to Emmaus in Luke 24:25-27 Christ reveals the Old Testament is about Him.

On the Day of Pentecost Peter addressed the crowd as "men of Judea", and as "men of Israel", and in Acts 2:36 as "all the house of Israel". On that day about 3, 000 Israelites accepted Christ. The Gentiles were not grafted into the New Covenant Church until several years later.

Based on Luke 3:16, and John 1:33, and Acts 11:15-16, the most important thing about the word "baptize" in the New Testament has nothing to do with water. The Holy Spirit is the master teacher promised to New Covenant believers in Jeremiah 31:34, and John 14:26, and is found fulfilled in Ephesians 1:13, and 1 John 2:27. Unfortunately, many modern Christians see water when they read the word "baptize" in the text. Based on the above, what is the one baptism of our faith found in the passage below? How many times is the word "Spirit" found in the passage, and how many times is the word "water" found in the passage?

Eph 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
Eph 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
Eph 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

"grafted to the body not the covenant"? A different law and covenant for the natural born Israel and gentile believers? Im confused. What bible verse please?

So if a father had adopted a child and also had a natural born, will he make different sets of rules for both of them? Will they not be both heirs? Will they not have the same rules under one roof?

I get where you are going but this confused me. Is the new covenant ONLY for Israel. Do gentiles not partake or benefit from its contents?? The new covenant sounds like what the gentile and Jew experience at conversion. FYI I watched up to the hour and four minute mark.

@Corey. Question: According to what you said at 27:00-29:30, Is the book of Hebrews written to (1) Israel or (2) The Church?

Malach 2:1-8 explains the Covenant of Levi. This is the one that was in effect when Jesus told the chief priests that the kingdom of God would be taken from them, and given to a people that bear the fruit of it.
The chief priests gave the kingdom of God to Pilate when they said "We have no king but Caesar". Hence, Jesus told Pilate that he could do nothing to Him except that authority had been given to Pilate from above.
When Pilate condemned Jesus, it was in finding Jesus guilty for being "King of the Jews".
Pilate, unwittingly, passed the kingdom of God from the chief priests to Christ.

You left off the New Covenant from Daniel 9:27, the most important mention.
This is where Messiah fulfills the Abrahamic Covenant between God and all the nations, not just the land nation of Israel, and not just the Jewish people. Since this covenant in Daniel 9:27 is the everlasting covenant prophesied by Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel and Daniel, then Israel BECOMES everyone under the Abrahamic covenant – and that is all the nations, not just one nation.
(Hint: only read Dan 9:27 out of the King James, the others cloud the verse with an antiChrist figure not found in the original text).

The Abrahamic everlasting Covenant includes the Gentiles. Therefore, everyone with faith in Abraham's seed, Jesus Christ, is Israel under the New Covenant, which is the fulfillment of the first covenant God made with Abraham, before the circumcision or land covenants.

Abraham is the not the father of only the Hebrews, he is the Father of the Gentiles too.
(Gen 18:18) Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and *all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?*
(Gen 26:4) And *I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries;* and *_in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;_*
(Rom 4:12) *And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, * _but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had_ *being yet uncircumcised.*
(Gal 3:8) _And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, _ *preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.*

The author of Hebrews tells the Jews that this New Covenant is confirmation of the Abrahamic everlasting Covenant, through the blood of Lord Jesus.
(Heb 13:20) Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead _our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, _ *through the blood of the everlasting covenant, *

The Gentiles are indeed included in the New Covenant, no longer strangers to Israel, but brought in through the Abrahamic Covenant with all nations:
(Rom 9:25) ... *I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.*
(Rom 3:29) _Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles?_ *Yes, of the Gentiles also:*
(Rom 3:30) Seeing *it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.*
(Rom 1:16) … _the gospel of Christ: … is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;_ *to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.*
(Rom 2:11) *For there is no respect of persons with God.*
(Rom 2:28) *For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly:*
(Rom 2:29) But *he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, * …

(Rom 3:22) _Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe:_ *for there is no difference:*

It's not a new covenant. It is the promised covenant. SALVATION THROUGH CHRIST.

Cory I love that you keep it straight to the text and read your Bible literally. I’m curious.. do you see the Bible dispensationaly as an acts 2, Mid acts 9 or acts 28 believer?

Covenant is for all of Israel, not ethnic Israel but the seed of the promise. If one is in Christ, then one is heir of Abraham according to the promise. What promise? The promise of eternal life by God from the beginning (Titus 1:2, Galatians 3:28-29, Romans 9:6-8).

Romans 2:28-29 KJV
[28] For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: [29] But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

If gentiles could partake of the old covenant, why can't gentiles partake of the new covenant?

I'm not fully convinced there are no conditions on the new covenant. If that was the case, what do we do with scripture that says you can lose salvation, and not everyone who says to me Lord lord will enter the kingdom

interesting talk about separating Jews from gentiles concerning the covenant, yet, it sounds like the covenant might not apply to only physical descendants of Israel, but the spiritual sons of Abraham. I'm thinking of the scripture where Jesus talks to pharisees, who think they are good merely bc they were physical descendants. Other verses where Jesus says, who are my brothers sisters? Those who do the will of God

the branches being cut off applies to gentiles as well, the verse says, if He cut off and didn't spare the natural branch, essentially don't think He'll spare you either

I'm going to have to do some research. I thought it's implied. It doesn't have to spell it out. The bible doesn't use the word trinity either, yet we know that's what it means. Also, the bible doesn't differentiate between the body of Christ and the new covenant. God bless you Corey. Getting us to read our bibles. 😆
