CMYK 4 Color Process Screen Printing on T-Shirts

Thank you! We did the separations in house. We chose the print order on purpose to yield the heavier yellow and give it that old map look. The customer was pleased and so were we!

CMYK process is printed wet on wet. There is some residual transfer of inks from screen to screen however it is not enough to effect the print. In many cases, it actually benefits the final result. Print pressure always effects the final print quality.

Thank you for commenting! 6 color press is always better if you have the space. It is convenient but also opens the opportunity for a lot more options/colors.

Because of the lighter deposit of process inks through a 305 mesh, contamination is minimal. In this video, we are using plastisol process inks. Waterbased process inks are available.

@HUSTLINISMYGAME you can use a program called Separation Studio or T-Seps the programs actually slip up all the colors you need so you know how many screens you might need. Its a pretty cool process.

Would you recommend getting a 6 color press with micro registration for this type of work? Could the same results be achieved with a 4 color press and changing the screen for the white base plate? Is the difference between a 4 and 6 color press convenience and not having to swap out a screen and reset the registration? Thanks for any help you may give to a newcomer! Yes, we do our process separations in Photoshop. Search Vimeo, there are a couple good tutorials on there. Not exactly how we do it but close.

The underbase on this job was run through a 200 mesh. It was was not double hit. It was flashed before laying down the process colors WOW.

You could. Also DC underbase with plastisol on top for soft feel.

The print order in this video is Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. They are Union Tru-Tone Process Inks.

CMYK is possible with discharge but it is very difficult to achieve the same look. In many cases, depending on the design, using a discharge Simulated Process would be ideal or you will find a discharge underbase with plastisol CMYK on top will yield a print with almost no feel. You would likely think it was all discharge.
