Well, looks like this is where my journey ends. For everyone that has been thoughtful and kind. Thank you. Looks like with the unexpected crash of this hard drive and the mistakes that I have made, I will not be able to retrieve this data. I will hold onto this drive-in case technology changes in the future or if I become independently wealthy and can afford a “professional recovery service”.


To all the negative people out there. Humans are human. We make mistakes even when we know better. My father has been in computers for over 50+ years in the military. I know a lot about computers and backups. Life got in the way. I have a lot going on right now and the last thing I need is smart aleck comments about backing up data.

I wanted to say thank you among all the negative comments, similar drive and problem fixed with solder iron and ceramic needle nose! Took me less than 10mn to have my powerless hdd up and running!

i have a 2TB seagate drive that spins up and the reader arm just clicks and the drive does not show up was hoping to fix it my self being the drive only run for 3 mouths and died not sure what happen

I will be geting my rework station tomorrow. May I ask what heat setting is best for removing this PCB Board Firmware Rom Chip? It has a digital setting with three numbers on it so I would assume I could set it to the exact setting. I need both settings one for the soldering device and one for the heat gun part. It has two settings.

I have a srd00f2 that I used for Xbox external HDD the led blinks but it won't be detected when I plug it into windows it says usb failed but you can see it in device manager usb failed..but windows wont show the hdd.

all my diodes had readings, i only got a beep from a piece labeled L7 which i looked up and its an inductor. is it the normal behavior of inductors, beeping when continuity tested?

Recap:

1-Looks like my original bios was erased.
2-Looks like my original bios was only partially copied over to the new rom.: 512K worth.
3-I have one PCB Donor Board that boots up the hard drive and keeps it running but o/s can't read the data.
4. Data Recovery Place that transferred my bios to another PCB Donor Board, said they don't back up roms and they don't have my rom to email me.

What are my options?

Guys just leave it plugged in and wait for ages and it will appear. Get a new hd asap and plug it in and then wait for ages again untill it appears and back it up. Just leave the hard drive alone forever Don’t panic 👍

mine says GP525 diode and finding same replacement isn't working.

I sold a 2 TB Seagate HD to a guy who is using it for his PC and it it not powering up...but it was working when I was using it...

I have a segate HDD (external) 1TB. The drive is not responding and now i am upset and depressed as i have saved all my son's images fight from his day 1 and i have no clue how to recover them. No one will be helpful in india for sure Without charging 35k (approx $500). If they had to do the same u did in the video thdy will charge the same amount. Canu guide me in any way to get my son's images back. I wanted to surprise him on his 8th bday sith all the images but i lost hopes.
