Absolutely great information. I am in the market for a new roof and I live in upstate New York, and they came up with a presentation telling me all kinds of things. I’m sure to confuse me. I thought I was going to go with him but after watching this video. Still I have to do mor research but at least now I am very prepared to make a concrete decision. Thank you.

I‘m from Germany. Nearly everyone uses clay for roofing. I didn‘t know in the US so many use other materials.

I'm replacing my roof in the next month or so. I was all set to get metal. Now rubber is a viable option too.

I’m so glad to find your channel, shopping for roof full replacement and your video gives an insight what’s good or not. So many scammers in Florida and being cautious is not enough, I usually research what reputations of this different companies. Thanks again, have a nice day and God bless!

Good comparison, and I think you've done great for leaving those bias categories out. Nice job explaining.

Thank you very much as your tutorial is very educational. I live in the Northwest, have a cedar shake roof and have been looking at roofing products and I now am leaning towards rubber then metal due to your video.

The reason fire rating is so much more important in a roof than in siding is that a lot of homes burn down from hot embers being blown onto the roof from a nearby fire.

How is rubber better if most pipeboots made out of rubber they are done in under 10yrs isn't rubber more prone to sun damage? Also when you Say Rubber roofing you are talking about a product like DaVinci or Ecostar Right? and not a Rubberized SBS Shingle? How would a rubberized shingle would be better that a regular Asphalt shingle? ok this is a question within a question.

I'm watching this three years to the day after Panama City Florida was hit by Hurricane Michael. I was in Panama City at the time and my in-laws shingles did okay holding up with up to 100 mile per hour winds. There were still shingles attached to the 10 x 10 section of the roof that ripped off the house and flew 20 ft away...

Thanks for the nice overview of different roofing types. Sadly, you decided not to cover my two favorites, copper and slate. I realize those are niche markets though and I will probably never own a home with either type. I'm not that familiar with rubber roofing, so your information was new to me and a little surprising. I know in other applications rubber is susceptible to dry rot and aging in direct sunlight. In fact prior to this video, I had only heard of rubber being used as a water barrier under living roofs where it is covered with soil and plant matter that protects it from degradation in sunlight. I am definitely curious now and will try to learn more of its use as a primary roofing material.
