I have learned so much from you and have avoided a few mistakes I would have made. Thank you so much for your dedication, not only to the roofing industry, but your concerns about recycling and the welfare of our planet.

Dmitry, I just had my roof replaced by my insurance company. I was very interested in going with Euroshield (I had a Euroshield installer lined up and would have been the first installation in my area) but it turned out that my policy had a clause giving the insurance company the right to use its own choice of installer/contractor. I'm in Florida and a quick web search turned up convincing and concerning evidence that the Florida court system was backing the insurance companies over homeowners who tried to challenge the clause. I chose not to fight it. Lucky for me, the contractor the insurance company chose had a good reputation so I didn't complain. The only issue was that, if I had to go with asphalt shingles, I wanted to use an SBS version. But neither the contractor or I could find a supplier of any brand that was distributing an SBS product in our market. I was surprised and disappointed by that. Two questions for you: 1. Any idea why SBS shingles are not readily available in Florida? 2. How well does Euroshield hold up in the heat and salty environment of coastal Florida? (That was a bit of a concern for me, anyway, before the insurance company stopped that plan in its tracks.)

I like installing asphalt shingles the best. Affordable to homeowner, easy to install and makes a great roof system. Just wish manufactures would be realistic with their warranty.

I would love the chance to venture off into the other materials like rubber and metal but just seems like not the best market for it here in Houston. Maybe Im wrong, but for now Im sticking with asphalt shingles.

I do appreciate your transparency on the marketing gimmicks that all shingle manufactures are playing. Its a joke and puts all contractors in a bad spot at the kitchen table. We are selling a warranty that we know is a gimmick.

Thanks Dimitri for your informative video! 🏆

1. What are better roofing options that have the same features of F Wave?

2. What kind of problems were the contractors having with F Wave in Colorado?

3. Do you think that the Pinnacle Sun Shingles is a better Shingle than using F Wave for people who live in Virginia?

Heh Dmitry, do you look at roof coatings? I had a Certainteed roofer put a Flintlastic two ply rolled roof on my low slope house. 15 years later it cracked, crazed, and alot of granules ended up in my gutter and rusted it out - but the roof didn't leak even through several seasons of hurricane force winds. During the pandemic I had not much to do so I bought Henrys Asphalt emulsion and applied a couple of coats, then got Henrys 10 year white elastomer and applied a couple of coats of that. Its been four years now and the roof is still looking real good and my AC bill went down because of the high reflectivity of the roof. Can I do the same for asphalt shingles?

The trouble with Euroshield is supply. I live close to where they are manufactured in Alberta, Canada and every order is manufactured to order, which means 4 - 6 weeks delivery and trucking freight charges on every roof. If they had better distribution, I would sell 5x as many of their roofs.

I am in Texas. I need a new roof but am on a budget. Can you give three brand names to look for in shingles that you feel are the best for Texas weather? Also does color matter when choosing? It gets over 100 every summer.

I just installed my first Decra stone coated metal shingle roof and it is a fantastic product. 2, 800 square feet mixed hip/gable roof. I have not tried the other manufactures of stone coated shingles, however, in my researching the different brands before deciding on Decra, I went with what I felt was the better looking product and what appears to me to be a superior interlocking system and a solid, rigid shingle compared to other brands. Super fast and easy to install, looks great, no need to rip off the asphalt shingles underneath. The key is to use synthetic underlayment AND radiant barrier (or a combination). The stone coated shingle product is far better than a metal sheet roof such as standing seam in terms of hail damage resistance (and far superior to asphalt also). I like the idea of a rubber roof, however, I have serious concerns over long term durability, especially in a hot baking sun. Overall, I don't think you can beat metal stone coated shingles for durability and looks. In addition, the attic temp reduced 30 degrees because of adding the radient barrier and the inherent air gap between the metal shingle and the original asphalt roof deck. Out of the entire job, the only thing I did not like was having to create your own starter hip cap shingle. I did it, but it was kind of funky figuring it out. I wish they would make one at the factory. Other than that, I love it & will be installing more!
