New contacts could measure glucose levels

New technology could change the way people living with diabetes track their glucose levels and you don't wear it on your skin, you wear them in your eyes. Instead of measuring glucose levels in a person's blood, a special type of contact can measure it through tears. Researchers from Oregon State University have created a tiny sensor that is totally clear and can be added to both prescription and non-prescription contact lenses. The information gathered can be sent to a cell phone or insulin pump. OSU engineers hope to have the glucose measuring contacts available within the next five years.
