I'm obsessed with your channel! I've even told my dentist and hygienist about it, and they were very impressed with my newly acquired dental knowledge!

I’ve learnt from living a long life that the body is so resilient despite years of abuse. Today in my 50’s I’m much healthier weight wise, metabolic blood work wise and my gums and teeth are much better than in my 30’s and 40’s. All it takes is some disciple and consistency.

my gums were in *terrible* condition until last year after years of neglect I had tons of tartar, they cleaned that away and they went progressively deeper with the cleaning in 3-4 frequent appointments. I kept up with proper home care and my gums are tight, pink, and not bleeding anymore. Even my bloodwork got a bit better now that I don't have constant inflammation in my body.

I had gingivitis and bleeding gums before getting root planing and doubling down on my oral care including brushing and flossing twice a day. Haven’t had any bleeding for the past 7 or 8 years and my dentist says my gum recession issues have significantly improved. Twice a year visits to the dentist for regular cleanings also help. Recently invested in an electric toothbrush but haven’t gone to a water pik yet. The flossing seems to be good enough. Bleeding gums are not normal so get serious about taking care of them and your teeth.

A few years ago, a dental hygienist told me to get an electric toothbrush. "It'll change your life, " she said. She didn't sell toothbrushes and had nothing to gain from that advice, so I gave it a shot. She was right -- it changed my life. If you don't have one, get you one today.

Have you done or would you be willing to do a video on how to take care of your dental tools (e.g., toothbrushes, water pike, tongue scrapers, retainers/night guards, etc.)?

it's true, my gums used to bleed constantly. i started flossing every day and they never do, dentist said my gums look better than all their other patients and i just floss while i drive with the little picks. i did get a waterpik too though but that's really recent. that's really quick and easy to do before bed.

Impressed that you recommended string AND water flossing. I tried everything and only once I added water flossing did my gums stay healthy long term.

Whitney, Thank you so much for convincing me to purchase a water flosser! Wow 🤩 what a difference! It’s like been only been two weeks but it’s made to my gums look amazing 🤩 Context: For 6 years I had a front crown with a bit of inflammation/shading on the gum line and its looking 50% better almost back to pink in two weeks! ✨

A certain social media dentist is telling people they don't need deep cleanings. I canceled my appointment 3 months ago and regret doing that. I have a deep cleaning on my wisdom teeth this week and one other appointment for two back molars next week Once that is done I'm making sure to focus on those areas. I'm also using Closys toothpaste with the Ultra Sensitive unflavored Original Closys mouthwash as I saw some good studies showing an average of 3.5 months in pocket reduction by 1. The active ingredient in that is stabilized Chlorine Dioxide and it's alkaline. I'm hoping that in a year I'll be back to 2's and 3's on the pockets. Taking lots of xylitol too.

Just saw a dentist for the first time in four years and had to do a deep cleaning and fill 2 cavities, but my dentist was so proud and encouraging of me only having 2 cavities despite 5 years and admittedly bad consistency from executive dysfunction, and they got me in for the cleanings and fillings within a 3 day period. The before and after of my teeth is insane. I’ve gum recession I can’t undo, but otherwise almost every dental concern or issue I could’ve had I have avoided. It’s not too late to turn your teeth around. The tongue is so thrown off by how different my mouth feels now too lol

What do you think of Stannous fluoride toothpaste, Whitney? I’ve been using it for several days now since my dentist told me I have gum recession and I feel like it’s helping my gums! TIA! 😊

Going to my hygienist is what has me where I am now
I was a 20 year weed smoker, had depression for some months where I didn't take care of my teeth. I am great now and make great money. The Root Planing and Scaling was the best thing to do. follow up every 3 months for cleaning until gums are stabilized. My teeth look great more do because of my hygienist than my dentist but with definitely made my teeth look great

Plaque biofilm if thin enough is clear, howeve if you use a dental tool and move it along plaque is white, like a typical oral bacterial colony
