I think another thing that impacted Ineffable Husband's placement, besides the distance from S3, is the Neil Gaiman situation, with a lot of writers pausing on their fic writing or leaving the fandom entirely. Because generally the release of a new season shows a tick up in fanfiction in anticipation.
