In this video I use two amazing products to turn my dark wooden beams into a light oak colour.
This takes typically a couple of days to complete for a room from start to finish.

If you find this tutorial helpful you can buy me a coffee below:

The products I used were:

Base coat paint - Creme de la Creme from the Lazy Range
Browning wax

You can find them below at:

Please let them know you have seen this video.

Very interesting Andy. We've realised that what we enjoy most is watching other people working!!!

Good job well done 😊

Brilliant, thanks. Out of all the videos yours is the only one I’ve found which shows how much paint is needed per beam…3 to one can. Cheers !

This is one of the easiest transformation ideas I've seen in quite a while. Thank you-

Makes such a difference - brings a lot more light in yet keeps the character 😊. Makes me wish I had beans in my house….

This was so interesting to see Andy. Thank you so much. We don’t have any beams to transform yet but it is such a great piece of advice and will certainly remember it. Love watching the range of your videos. We watch on the tv so have to remember to comment later. Love ‘French Ear Trumpet’ too. Keep up with the excellent work

Not quite 1st LOL.
It may have been labour intensive but the end results justify the work involved.
The beams look amazing and so natural.
Take care mate.
Cheers, Huw

Great, informative video - nice and clear. Thank you. Have subscribed. How long a wait, would you say, between applying the wax and rubbing it back? 🤔

I have quite a few very dark beams in my old little cottage; do I need to use the Creme de la Crème colour? I have Frenchie white furniture paint, would that work?

Incredible I was searching for this. Does it wok on beams already painted black?

Is the first paint a primer? My beams are painted with black gloss not sure if it's suitable?

Hi AJ - I've been planning to use this technique with the French chic paint on our beams in our property renovation in the South of France. I4ve only seen their corporate video and some instagram images so its was great to see it actually done on real beams. please can you tell me how many beams a 750ml pot covers and how many pots of the browning wax. I'll definitely mention your video when I purchase. Did you buy in France btw? Many thanks, Lucie
