It’s a sealant “ stain” which is really like a hard, polyurethane almost textured paint really that hardens and seals, but they call it a “stain” I think that’s a brown base sealant primer maybe, some come 2 in 1 so you don’t need to prime just slap it on. It’s weatherproof and seals the wood permanently, can also be used on concrete too. Prevents mold and Mildew from getting into the wood, silvering stains, future sanding, etc etc. it looks textured from this tiny screen so 90% sure that’s what it is lol

If im going from semi transparent to a solid stain do I need to sand off the old stain? its not in that bad of shape. Just got the house and dont like the color
