Basically every single ad on Instagram "You have depression? Anxiety? Lack of focus? Feeling unmotivated? It's because of gut health. Now take this pill "

"Where does that certainty come from?"

The sponsors. 😂

“Where does the certainty come from?”

From the fact that he sells pink Himalayan salt. 😅

Explaining that nuance is a big part of how doctors can actually keep a patient's trust.

The most intelligent, well rounded people you will ever meet will have one thing in common. They will not be afraid to say “I don’t know, but let’s find out as much as we can.”

My doctors favorite thing to say is "Could be." And I love him for it. He tells me to let him worry about it so I'm not so stressed out.

And this is the reason why I love doctor Mike.

My doctor told me that I definitely don't have hEDS despite doing zero investigation and admitting she knows almost nothing about EDS in general. I meet the diagnostic criteria. She completely blew me off and it's made me extremely wary of medical professionals, and made me afraid they won't believe me when I tell them something is wrong with me. Thank you for practicing in a way that doesn't create that fear in people. Thank you for listening.

I had a brain tumor removed when I was a teenager. Gary’s logic: if I get headaches, it’s not something to investigate or follow up on, I just need more pink sea salt 🙃

We need more doctors like Dr. Mike. Ones that actually care about their patients and don’t rely on BS for their decision making.

That’s what my doctor does. Recently I had pain in my side, and everyone around me were so certain I was having gallbladder issues, and when I went to my doctor, she said “Here’s what I think. I think you might have Gallstones, or it could be something with your appendix, but I’m not sure.” I loved just her being honest with me and saying she didn’t know.

I don’t think I have ever experienced this type of logical and reasonable healthcare treatment in my life. Oh how I wish for a doctor like Dr.Mike.

Thank you. I wish I had understood sooner, as an owner of a human body, that EVERYTHING involved in it's care is a process. A process of elimination, a process of illness, a process of recovery, a process of management. We are not static beings, everything is always complex, relative and changing.

That certainty comes from a SALESMAN.

The only goal is to sell something, a course, a pill, a training... It's sales/money, not people's wellbeing. In fact, quite the opposite. If they're healthy they won't need him anymore so there's always "something you can improve".

Only fools, charlatans, and zealots are completely certain of anything.

It comes from ignorance, Dunning-Kruger, the least informed is the most trusting. Thank you Dr. Mike for sticking to the truth in the most professional manner.

So right, my doctor right now is doing that. We still dont know what it is but with her determination and open mind on helping me we will.

When my dad had blood in his pee, his GP repeatedly insisted it’s a UTI… It was cancer. He had it before but the doctor was so arrogant and didn’t consider it could be metastasis that popped up. We all left shortly after.

Thanks dude, In my practice as a psychologist, I sometimes use your examples to create analogies between physical and mental health so people can understand how things can't be black and white, even more so when mental issues are untangible.
