I'm Hungarian, so let me give you some context: In the ancient Hungarian religion, there wasn't a single God and Devil. There were spirits. Some good, some evil, some neutral. But you could trap a spirit in an object to either contain them or harvest their power. For example, if a Táltos (Hungarian Shaman) wrote, ,Hadúr" with ancient Hungarian runes onto a sword, it is said to have trapped the spirit of war inside the sword, granting it supernatural powers and assuring victory. It might have worket lol, because in the Árpád period (700-900 AD), my ancestors raided Western Europe, going all the way to Spain to loot and came home richer. Their swords often had names of spirits written on them. After 1000 AD, Christianity was introduced in Hungary and it all went downhill ever since. The end. 😊
