Hey Chris! Not sure if you’ll see this but I have a vhs camcorder. It turns on and I can watch old tapes back. However when I want to record new footage it’s just black. You can hear my voice in them so it is recording but it’s like the shutter has seized up or something. Any advice? I was going to take it to a repair shop but wanted to see if you had any ideas first! Love the vid! ❤

Its not bad to change the belts in these cameras.
I have personally changed out the belts on 2 RCA VHS cameras.
Fun part Converting the old batteries to lithium 😅.
Which I haven't done yet 🙄

Mine is fully broken. In an repair attempt I plugged it in backwards and blew the intire thing up. So much for making movies.

You should keep an eye out for a VHS-C camera in My experience the belts usually aren't deteriorated but the tapes can be very expensive the video quality isn't better but it is different then a regular VHS camera

Another cheap way to get anything including premade edited/digital videos to have an authentic vhs look is to input them into a VCR to actually capture them onto a VHS tape then you can play it back and record it back on the PC.

Hi Chris,
I scored a Montgomery ward signature 2000 camcorder for $19. It will not record video! I successfully recorded audio but cannot get any video in the viewfinder besides a gray screen and the time log info. When I play the tape the audio has been recorded but no picture. Any ideas?

I have a vhsc camera that will not turn on. I've hooked it up with RCA cables to my TV but the camera is so old it won't even turn on. What do I do??? I do have 2 adapters but no VCR. Too expensive

HELP ME!!! I have the exact Hitachi vm-2000a as you. But the belt doesn't work, therefore the current VHS is stuck inside. If you or anybody could link me a source to diy fixing these things, it'd be greatly appreciated
